OS Daily Thread - Friday 19th February 2010

Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Friday 19th February. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.
Morning OS lovelies, wave.gif
stressedout - Yes I had some ready to eat juicy apricots which I just chopped and threw in and then added vanilla extract to the melted ingredients. I only used 6oz of sugar rather than 8.
SunnyGirl - good to have you back and glad you are feeling better
Jayward - glad the treatment is helping
jc - sorry to hear about your auntie and the trouser story made me laugh too
remmie - glad to hear the phone call lifted your spirits.
redruby - Your conservatory looks lovely
nic1 - I just ordered a miniature cherry tree. It only grows to 6ft and will happily live in a tub on the patio as long as it's big enough and they promise it will fruit this year! I was going to go for a dwarf apple tree but cherries seem like so much more of a treat!
Taplady - my father suffers from gout but in between flare ups is fine. He has to avoid port and red wine which is loves though!
flutter - the wedding sounds very joyful
ladyshopper - I hope you can see another Dr.
HShungry.gifBreakfast today is toasted weetabix loaf, and lunch will be savoury rice again as we really enjoyed it. Dinner will be home made cheese, onion and pepper pasties with baked beans and mash.
My second baking day went well - we have 6 fruit (blackberries, raspberries, blackcurrents and cherries all from the freezer) pies and four cheese pasties in stock now. I had a go at wheat free pastry and was really pleased at how well it came out. I have a friend with a wheat allergy and she misses what she calls 'stuff my mum would make me' so wanted to have a go. It's a stickier dough to work with but the pastry was delicious.
I hope everyones day is as good as it can be, and that anyone feeling poorly (especially the LO's) feels better soon. With love, light and squishy HShuggies.gif for all.

Well if you read the thread everyday I think you'd know <rollseyes>
Is this another lame attempt at trolling Diva again. OK we get it. You don't like her. Why is this sort of behaviour necessary? It comes across as bullying and childish and whilst that seems to go down well on DT on the OS board we tend to act a little more like grown ups.

Hmmmmmmm wonder if I'll get any more AE's sending me little messages :naughty:

Anyway moving on.......not much OS going on today. Mindee is coming but I'd quite like to make a lemon drizzle cake as bought a couple of lemons the other day. Mindee loves baking so sure to get stuck in (as does DS LOL).

We've had loads of snow  Considering the weather forecast I looked up a couple days ago never mentioned it, only sleet, it came as a bit of a suprise. Even Birmingham Airport was shut for a time - I assumed they've opened again by now. Hope it doesn't last as the council are only gritting the A and B roads again so will end up being housebound again at this rate as it's too dangerous in the car........

Supposed to be going out with H tonight although with the weather and my cold I don't know if we'll cancel. that being the case I am not sure what's for tea. Plenty of left over sausage casserole in the freezer so we could always have that again. I think there was enough to feed an army :rotfl:

Right had better make a coffee and ease myself into the day ;)
Hugs to those that need them. Have a good day OS or not.

Bitsy - well said. I must be half asleep still I thanked her for her post

Anyway - had an early night so up normal time this morning, feel better for it and its lovely as everyone else still asleep.

Another pottering around the house day today, can't get into any paperwork or housework whilst the kids are off so just doing the essentials.

Got to pop out to Argos with OH later as he has ordered some drills. We spoke to the builders re the garage and are awaiting their bill for what has been done so far - don't think will get them to complete the job - OH is now missing another tool which they must have borrowed and forgot to put back. It makes me mad when there are good small business' going under - anyway no more moaning.

Not sure what is for dinner - need to have a route around in the freezer. Off now for another cuppa - have a good one.x

Off to work today, finally, have loads to do, but none of it is proofed yet.
Other plans include making some 'chickens' with a brown stripy shirt I bought from a charity shop & yet more housework.
DD visited yesterday with the grandchildren, my wool now needs a serious sorting out as DGD unravelled loads of it, but she was so funny.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

Morning everyone! Hope you're all well today and looking forward to the weekend?

There's been a very light dusting of snow here overnight. It's as if someone's been out with the icing shaker ;)

Got some chicken soup that I made last night to take with me for today's lunch. DH will have the same along with a pasty. Not sure what we're going to have for tonight's tea though.

If anyone's got a Co-op near to them, they're running a special offer just now on sirloin steaks and frying steak. We had a sirloin each for tea last night and they were very tasty. Will buy some more for the freezer before the offer finishes methinks.

DH did the ironing yesterday and is planning on doing the housework today, so that we can have a relaxing weekend.

    Have a good day everyone.

Morning. Some snow here, only a dusting, but never seen so much over a winter down this way. Global warming is a myth, I am sure....

Bought the OH a car yesterday and pick it up today. Cheaper than best book price, so quite happy. Just can't get insurance for the kids on it. Might have to get them to get their own deal....

Day off, was going to clean out greenhouse ready for the year, but it's cold out there and I guess it will take longer to warm the ground for planting this year. I see heavy snow forecast for next week in the south east, so not into spring just yet.

Sort out moneysaving things today. Broadband package, phone, car insurance, Sky, mobile. Time to reduce some and upgrade others. I will see how much I can save......

    Cheers

N9eav - Oh so she did want a PT Cruiser. They are lovely (although ours which was an automatic which I hated!). Hope she likes driving it :D
