Quick question-
my carrots in 25 cm pots - some of the seedlings have sprouted and are close together, I couldn't really see what I was doing and where I was sowing them wih them being so tiny - they are mostly about 1-2cm high now - do I need to thin them out and can I replant the thinned out ones in another pot?? I should have sowed them in rows would have been easier than a random patternNot to worry I'll sow some more and have another go!
You can thin them now and try to replant them but carrots don't like being transplanted. If you have space and time then go for it. Otherwise just start another pot after you've thinned this one.
Which reminds me that I have to sow some carrots in a pot0 -

when it finally stopped snowing today hubby got back in the mini digger to apparently level the garden ...and found more stone ...i swear that must be atleast 15 tonne of the stuff by now ... a house ...i mean who in their right mind buries a house in their back garden ? i would like to say that there is no more house left to move ...but i aint holding my breath ... however on the good side i did see the first sign that my potatoes are starting to grow i had a wee green shoot
plans for the rest of the week (weather permitting) clearing out the wee bit at the side of the garden and planting my bulbs, finishing off the edging and figuring out the final position of the polytunnel
hope your all busy and achieving great things0 -
Well exciting news - my rosemary seeds have (finally) germinated and I know this isn't veg, but my oriental lily bulbs are starting to come through! Great on both counts as I was a little worried about both of them!
Am also super excited as it's now April which means that I can start hardening off my salad leaves and I can finally plant my seed potatoes! Exciting times! :j
Still waiting for my Dig In seeds, but hopeful as I see that some of you have received yours recently.0 -

I have done so ta, they look so fragile I'm not surprised they don't take to be repotted. Got 3 on the go now, the last one I just did, sowed them properly this time instead of scattering. Practice and all I guess!!Ahhhh.... lemony fresh victory is mineee!!!0 -
wee bit of advice about your rosemary (you probably know this already ) rosemary doesnt like wet feet ... so where possible a dry place for it ... if the leaves start to go brown you might have root rot ... if you do take some cuttings cut off the brown bits and where possible re-pot the rosemary ... can you tell i had to do this last week lol ...
good luck and well done with it0 -

Oh thank you, no I didn't know - I am a complete newbie (but an enthusiastic one!). Will bear that in mind for when it gets a bit bigger as it's just teeny tiny at the moment!0 -
your doing better than me though ... i am a total newbie too and couldnt even manage it from seed (kept killing things) so i bought a wee bush of one ...then had the problem so had to google it up ... ohhh and rosemary smells amazing0

A tip for sowing small seeds is to mix them with sand then you can see more easily where you have sown them. Might help next time.LBM 10/08 £12510.74/0
