Will have to read through and see has been said already, if anything about them and see what other lovely things i can grow in my small shaded garden! :)

I have wondered about getting some patty squashes this year. What do they taste like? and how easy are they to grow?

i think they taste disgusting, they look cute but taste vile.. _pale_ but then i loathe anything pumpkin-like... can just about cope with butternut squash...

Need to get some compost I've heard Homebase own one isn't much good (not sure where I heard it) Any sugestions ?
Thank god I only bought 1 bag of this ..... it's horrible. Really 'woody'.
Looks like it's been taken out of the compost heap too early .... I didn't dare plant any seeds in it.
A creative mess is better than tidy idleness :D

Use it for something that WILL grow -im thinking courgettes.

You can always feed it as well to see if you can get something out of it??

Apparently they are p- easy to grow as they come from the courgette family :D

They can be used basically like courgettes, but they have a slighly firmer texture and a slight nutty flavour.

misskool I haven't had much luck with courgettes they kept going moldy at the ends. Do you keep the flowers on or take them off? I want to give then another go as I love them.

the flowers on mine fall off after a day or so but you can pull them off. lynz has answered that you can cook them!

For everyone else, b&q are doing 20% off if you spend more than £50 this weekend.
i might go and stock up on compost. 3 for £10 so 15 bags of 70l for £40 (3.8p a litre). that's good value.

do they look dead? maybe its just too cold for them to grow and as soon as the weather warms up they will start again.. plus they might be putting their energy into making roots if they have just been moved?

hi all. I have a couple of questions if you don't mind me asking?

1 - I have had a mulberry bush in the ground for 5 years in May. It has grown really well and is a nice fair size now. However it has never flowered and therefore never fruited. Is this right? The bumf that came with the plant said it was self fertile but that's not going to be an issue if it never flowers!!

2 - What is chitting? I have got my flexitubs now and I bought some seed potatoes from wilcos (99p for 5). How may do i put in per tub?

    Thank you please ;)

Oh and my carrots are through already only seeded em on sunday! They came through on tuesday! Seeded indoors on dining room windowsill.

  • no a few of them are laid flat...but still bright green. I think I may have put them out too early, I planted 20 so I reckon even if I lose a few the odds are still in my favour ;-0
