Hi all, haven't been on here for as while and haven't really got time to trawl through the posts since last I was here, naughty I know lol
Hope everyone is doing fine. My toms are on their last legs but have harvested loads of them, and potatoes
A question please: I have got six sweet pepper plants and they have produced loads of fruit which pretty much have all grown really well but apart from one they don't show any signs of turning red. Could it be they're not getting enough sunshine (:rotfl: no chance of that THIS summer!) or heat? I was wondering if I should bring them into the conservatory and site them on a sunny but not in direct sunlight windowsill?
Any advice greatly appreciated as always0 -
Hi kimmee
My peppers have been big and green for weeks now and one is just starting to turn red. Bit like the tomatoes really - for ages they were green too but did eventually ripen.
I'm not going to move mine inside - next year I'll be growing lots more and won't have room inside for them so this year I want to test how well they do.

Hi all
Well, I am going to spend the day sorting out all my seeds. I think I have enough for an army so will need to sort them out into months so I know when to sow things. My christmas toms are going great guns! Both are really big strong plants so here's hoping they look as pretty at christmas.
I have just sowed a load of new herbs so will nurture them this week and next weekend I will be sorting out my garden, pulling plants that are no longer productive and just generally sorting out for autumn.
Oh..... if anyone is growing cauli's cabbage etc in pots I have found those food covers made of lace (in pound land or wherever) work really well as a CWB stopper. They looks a bit odd.... but as long as it works I am not bothered!

Hi Lizzie
Thanks for that, my chillis have all ripened (they ar in a diffent part of the garden) so what I may do is bring 3 inside and leave 3 outside and compare. Like you I want to grow lots more next year as they have so far done really well but I would have room for about a dozen or so.
Good luck with yours and thanks again0 -
Have to say my jalepeno plant that has really bushed only produced 2 fruits so far, I haven't picked them yet as they aren't so big but I would have if they were cucumber plants, to allow the plant to grow some more, but I'm scared to! Which is where my knowledge of chilli's is limited! Do I need bigger pots, could the pot size limit the harvest? Will it help at this stage if Ichange them?
In addition, I have five scotch bonnet plants that were really slow growing but have really grown since monday when I got back from my hols and fed them - new pots here we come but I'd love some advice as I do this if possible!
Thanks everyone!!!

I wonder when my tomatoes will start to ripen. I was suprised when i went to a friend's house, he has loads of tomatoe plants except in smaller pots than me, but with lots more fruits growing than me...!?
oh well i have 2 courgettes still left, and another good crop of runner beans coming through!
Don't worry about them rippening. Last year mine tooke ages n in the end an aunt told me to pick the green tomatoes n to store them in egg boxes. I did this and couldn't believe it they did all eventually turn red. they lasted me till about oct!!0 -
Thanks Loucroft. I think that I need to leave them for a bit longer.I am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order

Not posted for a while but just wanted to say that my tomatoes are finally ripening, have a few nice sized red ones from the Greenhouse and also some little cherry toms from my hanging baskets.;)
Been using up spuds from the Garden, cucumbers from the Greenhouse, courgettes, blackberries etc etc. Got some lovely sized beetroots that I need to pull up and cook and everything looking really good thanks to all the rain we've had recently.
Hope you are all doing well.:D"WASTE NOT, WANT NOT!"GC for OH, myself, DD18 & DD16 includes Toiletries, cleaning stuff & Food.

Hooray! I went to the allotment yesterday and harvested about 10 cucumbers (given loads away!), a large courgette, loads of potatoes, the biggest beetroots and radishes I've ever seen, salad leaves, rhubarb, runners, 2 corn cobs and tomatoes! I think that will all go into a beautiful salad tonight! Can't believe it, and the cucumbers just won't stop coming! You can bury a lot of troubles digging in the dirt
