I've been pollinating the tomatoes with a small paintbrush for the last few days because we can't leave the door open so there are no bees to do the pollinating. Just dab the brush inside each flower that you can see. I don't know whether they would pollinate themselves without this...0

Will I need to get the paintbrush out for my courgette or aubergine plant? I only have one of each?

My two children (teens) clubbed together and bought me a B & Q Gift Voucher for my birthday yesterday (since i spend a lot of time there buying grow bags and bargain bin herbs and plants).
This evening i visited B & Q and managed to get a few grow bags and also some plant labels and a sage plant from the nearly knackered corner.
I'm well chuffed because i didn;t have to spend any money :-)
The flowers on my potatoes haven't opened yet, but they should soon...the strawbs have no fruits but they do have flowers (though not on all of them)...another cucumber and squash have started to wilt and these ones were not overwatered. I know i am supposed to wait for fruits before giving them a feed, but i thought it worth a try to give them a little tomato feed with some water. I'm hoping it peps them up a bit.
Some of my sugar snap peas are now about 15-18 inches tall but i have noticed the ones that were shaded with netting intitially have done far better than the more exposed ones elsewhere in the garden. Hopefully they will catch up.
The other week i went a bit daft with some rhubarb seed and put quite a lot into a very large plant pot and now there are loads of good strong looking leaves in the pot. At some point, though not this year maybe, i shall have to split it as there is going to be much too much for the pot to grow it well (I presume).
We ate some radish yesterday and today in salads and they were delicious. I have taken a seed tray filled with growing salad leaves, to my parents. They are keeping it on the pation table and harvesting leaves from it. I love that they can benefit from my veg growing too.Grocery Challenge for October: £135/£200

Hi I was wondering is it too late to sow some leeks as I have never grown them before, can I sow them into seed tray then transplant them if its not too late ???
Thanks Janice0
