    Hi all

I planted my cucumbers out this morning into their final position and gave 'em a good watering and now they've totally wilted

They've been outside in my little wilko greenhouse for about 2 weeks and for the last week or so I haven't been zipping it up at night so they should be well hardened off.

Does anyone know if they are just sulking cos they've been moved or should I be worried?

    Thanks :)

Isn't it lovely? I'm cutting salad leaves, beetroot leaves and rocket on a daily basis now - just think how much we must have saved on all those horrible bags of salad from the supermarket :j

I don't know about anything else, apart from the sweetcorn, I bought 6 plants which are 3 per big tub doing ok but you only get one ear or sweetcorn per plant I think.

I grew sweetcorn last year and you get 2 or 3 ears of corn per plant.
Mine were growing in a block of 6 up against my south facing house and did really well.
They taste SO sweet cooked straight from the plant. I wish I had put some in this year now.

Excellent I'll look forward to that! I bet they are delicious. The plants did really well in the heatwave week we just had shot up a couple of inches :)

Just be carefull that they dont blow over when they get tall and leafy with tassels on, they can be a bit top heavy.

I imagine they get quite big - thought I'd bought baby sweetcorn but obviously not. I have a large bare trellis at the side of shed at the moment that I'll use for support. Can't wait to start harvesting later on in the year!

  • Hello everyone.

My tomato plants have got little tiny tomatoes on them!!:T:T

But i do have another question about my tomato plants.... lots of the bottom sets of leaves are looking quite tatty should i leave them or remove them?

This is my first year growing anything and im doing it in my conservatory so everything is in pots. My conservatory now looks like a jungle the children think its marvellous.

    Ive got....
    7 tall tomato plants
3 courgette plants which seem to be getting wider by the day
    4 red pepper plants
    1 cucumber
    3 french beans
    1 strawberry plant
2 pots of chantenay carrots (bbc dig in)
    Lots of basil and salad

All grown from seed apart from the strawberry plant which i picked up for £1 in morrisons.

Everything is in morrisons buckets apart from the tomato plants.

I hope someone can help me with my red pepper plants, its been about 11 weeks now and they are still little plants 4 - 5 inches high, i just cant believe that they are going to do anything especially as i sowed them the same day as my whopping tomato plants. Is this normal? Are they slow growers?
