We buy the lawn seed from Wilkos, it's pretty good seed too it takes about a fortnight to start showing through, and it's cheaper than other makes.0

I need some advice! I planted some tomato, french beans, brocoli and courgette seeds last sunday. I was going to put them on a windowsill indoors but we were due to have builders start work so put them in one of those plastic greehouses in the garden.
Nothing much has seemed to happen to them, no signs of life. Is it becauses its outside? The building work has been pp for a while so can bring them in. Will they still grow or will I have to buy more seeds? HELP!!0 -
Courgette definately shouldnt be outside Alice
Beans will be fine
Not sure on broccoli
I would definately not place tomoatoes out till end of may.
A week isnt long anyway... Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -

My broccoli germinated fine in an unheated greenhouse weeks ago, so that should be fine - if you're worried can you wrap them in bubble wrap for an extra bit of insulation
As for the toms and courgettes - for germination purposes I'd keep them inside if possible - ideally they want a nice constant temperature.0 -
I potted my courgettes into huge containers yesterday, but now I am reading that its to early to leave them outside!
The tubs are too big to bring back indoors, do you think I will get away with insulating them with fleece and bubblewrap?“Careful. We don't want to learn from this.”0 -

I was thinking it is getting warmer so I had better put my excess seed in a dry jar and pop it in the fridge so it saves well for next year. Couldn't remember which seeds don't save well though so I had a ferret on the net for a seed viability chart
This is a good quick guide I think

It's a darn sight more luck than judgement! A few more are off to new homes as I grew a few too many. I think misskool had it right (I think it was her who said it) when she said that stuff *wants* to grow, we just help it along:D0
