Astra Issues After Installing Car Stereo

Does the Sendai have a 16 pin ISO socket (actually a pair of 8 pin) directly in the back of the unit or is it on the end of a set of cables that are wired to a smaller plug that is in the back or go directly into the unit.
OH says that he took the wires off of the back of the unit that converted it to be able to be used in the Ford so that it would work in the Astra.
He says that it goes stereo > wires > adapter at the moment.
Whereas before it was stereo > wires > adapter > wires > Ford adapter.2019 Wins

I am puzzled by this one
Can the fuse in the back of the Sendai be moved to a different position in the slot ?
Do the red and yellow wires have join in them ?
How many wires go to the power plug, the half with red, yellow and black.
My thought is that either a blue, brown or orange wire from the radio is sending 12v back into the car harness. The only wires that are needed are the red, yellow and black.0 -
One option wold be to put the Sony one back in. Was it not a better stereo anyway?“Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?”

I have no idea tbh.
He said that he just connected all the connections together.
OH said that he'll investigate some more when it's less wet. *shrug*davemorton wrote: »One option wold be to put the Sony one back in. Was it not a better stereo anyway?
Not really. The front wouldn't stay on and it didn't work at all.2019 Wins

A Connection with current problems maybe? :cool:Proud of who, and what, I am. :female::male::cool:0 -

Wouldn't surprise me tbh.
OH has now said that the stereo that was in the Astra when we got it was a Goodman's and not a Sony.
Apparently we need another adapter that will fit the Astra.
I have no idea about these things tbh.2019 Wins

If you unplug the head unit and the faults all go then it's clearly the problem.
If the connector pin allocations are different then I wouldn't be at all surprised if it causes problems.Happy chappy0 -

thats what i was thinking, put the sony back in and enjoy it. why are you wanting to put a potentially lesser stereo in?...work permit granted!0 -
Is there any chance your OH could take a picture of how he has this wired so we can get a better idea what is going on?
As I feel some of the wires are the wrong way round, especially if the colours are different coming out of the installed headunit to that of the harness.0 -
On the halfords webby to fit into a astra up to 98 you need a harness, which should make fitting a simple process, so eliminating the need to strip and join wires etc;)0
