 you're not too old to go over my knee young lady
As for all the nasty stuff - I don't know why the 'professionals' don't just stick to their secret ebay group. The initial help on this and the previous threads has been much appreciated, but I wonder how many potential shoppers have been put off by the nastiness?
Didn't realise it was secret. I am part of it, only difference I find is the lack of restrictions as not a public forum.
I don't consider myself to be a professional MS, and certainly no better or worse than anybody else on here. I am a relative newbie too, but that is due to children and work making this a convenient option for me, although I take the assignments seriously as this is now my job.
Every forum on the MSE site has it's own issues and backbiting, this one is no different, however, I have never, or will never insult anybody on here on belittle the reasons for doing MS'ing, I just don't see the point.
Re: Hollypear and TractorGirl, I agree extremely helpful, as you can see by the amount of thanks in their posts, but there are a few wind up merchants on here too. (mainly the ones that thank the nasty posts, but never actually post anything on here).
Have a good weekend everybody, just a petrol for GAP and an ice cream for me today!0 -
Wow... It's all action in here. Heard it's all kicked off from another forum so just had to take a look. Glad I am not a part of this thread.
Wonder if Amyb and Pline have seen this. Fite fite fite!! roflThe art is not in making money, but in keeping it!!!0 -
It seems like this thread is gaining a reputation for all the wrong reasons
I have been shocked by all the nastiness recently. I hope that we can go back to the friendly forum this used to be (a long time ago...).
Unfortunately it appears that some jump at the chance to have a go when the opportunity arises. The attack on TG by Purplemunchkin was uncalled for and unacceptable
There really is no need for the divide. The more experienced MSers are usually more than happy to help others as long as they have taken the time to read the basic information first.0 -
LOL I don't think an appeal to treat others on the board with respect then telling people to shut the hell up is going to carry much weight -pot, kettle etc. I don't think comments aimed at "You newbies" say much about you either-everyone was a newbie once-it's curable
I'm not a newbie but have not MSd in the last 4 months for health reasons so I understand to some I'm not a known name as I haven't posted recently
I do agree the attack on TG was totally unwarrented she is supportive of newbies who are prepared to do the leg work <hint it's all on page 1> . Yes HP has a bee in her bonnet over RE and DID go on a bit-that doesn't bother me-I'm a grown up I make my own decisions about what makes a good/bad MS company and accept other won't agree and will have different criteria /experiences but her low jibe about cheap gifts was totally unwarrented and if we're talking about respect I think she owes the poster it was aimed at an apology- respect is earned not bestowed because you've done X number of Ms's
From where I stand there's fault on BOTH sides -newbies who expect to be spoon fed and longer standing posters who think their knowledge gives them some kind of status or a warped form of superiority. Both need a reality check and in some cases a boot up the bum. If you can't add something constructive to the thread don't bother posting -if you can help or encourage-go for it-it'll be appreciated by the majority. If you have a question-check the FAQ first (it's still on page 1) before asking often it's there-if it isn't then someone is likely to give you a sensible and civil answer but I'm sure you can understand how the same question asked over and over when it's spelt out in the FAQ does get grating (Oh and the FAQ is STILL on page 1 btw
)
Flame away by all means but be aware I cut my teeth on the usenet boards on the internet in the early 90s when a flame really was a flame so there's honestly nothing you can say that will get me riled up.
Oh and for the record I think Gap are worse than RE but that's for another day :rotfl:I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -
If you all apparently know about the ebay forum, then you'll also presumbly have realised that it only exists because people were so fed up of the arguments and the attitudes of the newbies that they went and set up an invitation-only alternative where they could talk about MSing peacefully and without people being rude all the time.
You all already succeeded in driving most of the 'clique' (as you so love to call it) off the forum and into a private space - you are just lucky that some people still came back to MSE to help you all - people like TG and HP in particular, but there are others too. Many haven't been on here for a long time because they're sick of you all, quite frankly - when did you last see, say, myself or Timmne post on here regularly? Now it seems you've finally succeeded in driving Hollypear off MSE as well, so congratulations, that's all I can say to you all.Dan

Ooh, I didn't know there was a secret group. Or should I say once secret as it is now in the open. Who broke the confidentiality rule?! :rotfl:0

Thanks
It does look like I will have to pay a bit extra.

The one weird thing with the company is how the prices vary from restaurant to restaurant in a way I could never quite put my finger on. It's one thing if your restaurant in central London charges 15% more, but when different branches that are within a few hundred metres of each other in the same city elsewhere charge differently to each other it's über weird. The pizza is the one thing I almost miss about gap...0
