Well as everyone else has an opinion, here is mine........the bullying on here is shocking. Cliques, personal comments, back patting and fawning.
Can we all agree to be civil, keep posts about the work instead of thread protocol and make this a nicer thread to visit please.
(And if anyone is thinking about directing personal comments at me, they won't beat what I was called today by my manager.......an educated housewife!)
The last bit from your manager is shocking, I would be putting in a sexual discrimination grievance at comments like that, but then I am a bit of a radical with things like this!0 -

The very first time I posted on the MS thread I was told I was too stupid to be a mystery shopper.
I'm sick of reading strings of posts baitching at each other.
The nature of the job means you can't really discuss it with "real" people and this is supposed to be for cameraderie, venting to folk who understand when things go wrong, swapping tips about briefs and ms companies.
I'm beginning to suspect the nastiness is on purpose. The more people who can be put of msing the better as there are too few jobs to go around.

They don't do the job properly, they make up the answers, they walk past a shop assistant, make a note of their name and description and then get home and write a complete work of fiction as to what that member of staff is supposed to have said, done and recommended. (and I'm not saying millierose does this, but I know for a fact LOTS of people do)
And if the reimbursement covers a cheap computer game, a burger or a cup of coffee, then they tend to think "Hey look what I got for free" and don't stop to think about how much time out of their day it took them to get it.
Excellent post TG. You and I both know allocators in the better companies are frustrated by the cheapening of the role of MS'ing as demonstrated by RE. And we know how the MS'ing companies are frustrated by people looking at this as a cheap perk. Those who are prepared to be like little puppy dogs letting companies like RE tickle their tummy make all out efforts to maintain this as a professionally skilled job go for nothing.
It is not a case of "Oh look I got a free pc game" It is not free. When you take into account the preparation, printing off the notes, checking the scenario, doing the shop, and in RE's case spending anything up to 2 hours doing their silly reports..what are they actually getting for free. Add to that any petrol, and other costs, then subtract income tax from the fee and they would be better off buying the cheap pc game.
And to those defending RE. They tell a pack of lies. I know people who have done one job, end of. I told them to remove me from their database. Did they...NO. The 450,000 may fool some it doesn;t ffol me. Add that to the "do you...quiz on the front page" Please don't tell me anyone is stupid enough to answer those. They are making money from that in free market research which they then sell.
Rant over.
And I hope some on here will vouch for me. I will go to any lengths to help genuine newcomers. I spend ages answering PM's and do so willingly...but I will not stand by and let a cheapskate company like RE cheapen a profession I am proud to be a part of. Some people need to waken up and smell the coffee.

I work in a male environment, so I've decided to approach my annual review next week in a more ballsy way ( as opposed to a housewife and mother way), and just ask outright for a payrise and my professional training .....which has been conveniently forgotten about.
I can't change their dinosuar attitudes, but I can change my own behaviour!0 -

And that's the difference between hobby/part time or full time employment... with the first you are enjoying the experience rather than with the latter you are focused on the amount you receive...
Enough said.. off to bed... good night all , hope those who are Ms'ing this weekend have a good one. xChristmas 2020 £109

And as for the educated housewife comment ..... I think I'd be tempted to tell him I'd rather be an educated housewife than an uneducated managermanager was the polite term....feel free to interchange at will!

wow, heated debate yet again.
I'm going to a computer shop tomorrow for reinbursment only. I am doing so as i'm out shopping anyway and the OH wanted a game anyway. This in no way, shape or form means i'm going to be any less professional.
I have a similar one next week (hoping to buy a belt) which i see as a treat. I believe a great portion of the problem is the fact that for full time msers this kind of work is useless to them (most of the time)
But to me, it gets me out of the office on lunch. buys me some treats i can enjoy and makes me a few pennies on the side. (RE this is mainly directed at)
saying that i don't see anything wrong with this. it suits my personal situation but not others. Don't forget it's swings and round abouts
Full time shoppers get nice bumped up deals for last min jobs or long distance's, build their reputation faster and get jobs that aren't even advertised to the rest of us as they are avaliable more often and more experience.
So, even though RE may not be the best suited company for some, it is for others.I get what i want. That isn't because i'm a brat or spoilt. It's because i'm determined, i work hard for it and i achieve my goals!0 -
How do you see a list of jobs available for Gfk - I get an email to say job available in my area and I log on to site and decline or accept it. I would like to see a list of jobs available. Fairly similar process for GR too.
GfK don't work like that. You only see jobs in your immediate postcode area and even then you cannot define that area.Clique member no 1.:D0
