:rotfl: I really wish they would let you take a partner with you (I don't expect them to pay for him) then at least wouldn't look so obvious dining alone - I am sure they look out for the single diners that require receipts - bit pointless then really since service is different

It has been touched on before but I really do wonder what the client actually gets out of these shops. The scenarios are always the same and the receipt combined with the need to eat alone must stand out a mile, particularly jobs that happen on the weekend. As CCTV is used anyway, perhaps the requirement for a receipt could be dropped for a round of jobs to see how it goes...

    Three weeks is the norm.

I've just been paid for ones I did on the 9th.

    They aren't recorded delivery.

Is this for the petrol jobs or the catalog jobs or both?

    Hi,

I would like to ask a question from a different side of the Mystery Shopping world. Do you, the new shoppers ask the company you work for these questions you have? I would hope that my fellow allocators/panel managers/community managers... would be there to help the new shoppers? But it seems that these simple questions that all shoppers have at some point in their shopping life get asked here and everyone starts to get all annoyed! Just a thought ;-)

Which is why I put in my shoppers tips if in doubt phone the MS'ing company. I think companies prefer you ask even at the risk of looking silly rather than blindly blunder on. I do a regular job for one company where you have an excel document for data entry and all you do is score the questions 1-5. Then a 300 word summary. I have had to redo a job for this company because someone didn't score ANY questions and for a summary put:-" Store was fine I found no problems"

There is no way a MS'ing company could possibly submit a report like that.
And PS Max haven't had time to do your online training yet. have you sorted out the pop up add blocker problem yet as I have pop ups disabled. Though I use Firefox ( love it as a browser) and I think it says "This site has requested pop ups ?allow"

    Hi

Have worked through and can't find an answer for this - can anyone help me out please. Company needs me to purchase an item and send to them within 24 hours together with the purchase receipt and the post office receipt showing how much it costs to post. Is this usual with MS companies? The last purchase I did I went back for a refund later in the day and that was not a problem however this could mean a sizeable outlay initially for a small fee in the long run.

Many thanks yet again for all the advice, I really appreciate it.

    :)

This is usual for some agencies. Generally speaking when you return the goods to the agency you receive your goods reimbursement by cheque within a 3-7days and you fee at the end of the month after invoicing. I always send the goods special delivery and invoice that cost and have always been paid.

Check through the agency brief and include their reimbursement form if they have one. Some don't so I always put a note in so they can match the item to the job id. and me! Might sound obvious but thought I would mention it. Get the post office to give you a copy of the postage receipt too as you have to put one in the parcel. Useful if parcel gets lost in the post. Touch wood that has never happened to me but best to have proof!

Another tip is to have a dedicated MS credit card. That way you are not dipping into your bank balance. Just make sure you pay it off when you get the reimbursement.

    Hello all!

I haven't posted on here in AGES, just lurked a bit. It's good to see the usual flame wars are still going on, some things never change, eh?

Anyway, I noticed Max Aben is about, and I thought I'd add to what people have said about the way MS companies deal with shoppers. Until a few months ago, TNS had regional managers that used to be responsible for allocation and dealing with shoppers in a particular area. As such, I always dealt with the same personm, and it got to the point where he knew my name and recognised my voice on the phone. Working for TNS was always a pleasure because I knew who I would speak to about any problems, and knew he was a good guy. It also made me more likely to do an urgent last-minute job for them.

I'm not suggesting your company follows exactly that system, I'm just making a general observation that the personal touch has a huge impact on the shopper's perception of the company.... TNS has gone so far downhill since they got rid of AMs!

Contrast the situation as it used to be at TNS with, say, GAP, who don't let you phone them, don't reply to emails, and always send rude, generic emails when they need to query something....
