Access To Electoral Roll

Options
Hi there. I am new.

I am trying to find my long-lost half sister & have managed to get hold of my Dad's name & her Mum's name on 192.com but they are ex-directory & I don't have the money to pay to search.

Does anyone know where I can access the information on the Electoral Roll for free? I have been searching for weeks with no success. Please, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried joining Genes Reunited? Although there is a paid membership section - its not a huge amount for a year and you can always put your own info on there as a free member and maybe someone will pick it up. Just a thought - good luck.

You're allowed to view the edited version only i.e. only people who haven't opted out of third party contact.

You aren't allowed to write anything down when viewing the register, so if you can't remember the address then asking for a viewing won't be of any use.

Have done so plenty of times in our local library, in full view of the reception/advise desk.

If this was not allowable, I would imagine there would be a sign up saying so.

Why would this not be allowed? it is a public record!

Think you can search Genes reunited even if you are not a paid member, if they are on there you have to join to contact them. If you do join don't for get to do it via a cashback site to get a little of the cost back
Have you tried to google the name, depends on how common the name is, it's a bit of a wild card but I have found a couple of people that way.
Also could see if they are on facebook, myspace or other networking sites.

Someone in front of me in a queue at the library asked to see it a couple of months ago. The librian responded by saying there's new rules now and you have to view it at the front desk and you aren't allowed to write down entries. When the man asking to see it asked why, she replied by saying it's new legislation from the government after the priviledge was being abused by some parties

I think that's true to prevent companies from getting hold of names and addresses without paying. Most individuals would want to check if their relatives are still at the same address and if they are there's no need to write it down.
