I think it is very decent of Nick from O2 to come on here and answer your criticisms.

A lot of companies would just ignore you all.

Shazzy: i think the problem lies with the fact that everytime you feed or love or sleep with your duck, the silly little thing decides to stop swimming for a while. Loving and sleeping with your duck... erm that all sounds a bit seedy to me!

lol I never slept with no duck! I think it was good of him to answer questions too. If there was a glitch there was a glitch not a lot we can really do about it. It hasn't affected me though but I can understand why people are upset. If I had spent 5 days constantly looking after my duck I would be a tad mad too.
  • Does anyone else think it's ironic that the man from o2 who has tried to justify the decision they have made is called Nick? They certainly stole a lot of people's chances of winning.

Yep it's very ironic! His an absolute idiot, I stayed awake for over 4 day's caring for my duck when he knew fully well there was a 'glitch' with mine and other certain people's ducks!! Nick, answer us this 1, why couldn't you have let us know there were glitches with our duck before the competition closed? Bet you can't answer that 1 can you because you're just evil and don't want people having a chance to win. I mean I thought the aim of the game was to get your duck around the world in the quickest time, doesn't seem this way if you can only achieve a certain time, if you get lower than it you get disqualified?

I think it's a fix anyway, don't reckon the person on top of the leaderboard is real they just do it to get more hits on there website etc. Also, the previous leaderboard which had someone called Helen on and her ducks name was Sid, I'm sure she was the winner last year? Personally, I reckon it's a big fix so they can get more hits on there website and so they can waste peoples time!! Anyway, O2 are crap, Orange are the best :D..you get 2-4-1 cinema tickets with them and free pizza and loads of other cool stuff :D..O2 you can go rot, your a load of crap and I doubt anyone will have any faith in you anymore, not after this anyway!

Personally i'd have been chuffed to bits with gig tickets for any 02 gig!! Ok its not £6,000 or a round the world trip but better than nowt.

I stayed up for a few days and managed to scrap in at 3544 but hey ho thats the way it goes.

How exactly is it 02's fault that if you raced more than 1 duck at a time there was a glitch. You can't expect to gain an advantage from a glitch or to win!!!
:j It doesn't get any better than this :j

I'm sure you weren't meant to have bulk entries so maybe O2 hadn't considered what would happen if someone had 2 (or more) entries while they tried to figure out how to win? Admittedly, if that's the case it's a bit of an oversight as plenty of people share computers.

I personally still believe that there should either be a randomly drawn winner or the comp should be re-opened for maybe 10 days, after notifying all players, fixing the glitch and correcting the calculation.
I also stopped caring for my duck as much when I realised that I could not win or even come close and would guess that there are a lot more of us than the few who have commented on here who are in the same boat.

I'm hoping O2 agree after thinking a bit more. I had fun racing my duck while there was still something in it, so it would be a shame for it to end so bitterly when it would be so easy to reopen or randomly draw and make it as fair as possible to everyone.

It's o2's fault because they, errr, wrote the game?

The game is buggy as hell, not just for this glitch, but for countless others.

How about this one: I suspect the reason entries to the race were closed early was NOT because it was planned, but because they discovered the game couldn't cope with time changes.

When the clocks went forward an hour it acted like the duck had swam for an extra hour, but that hour wasn't added on to your time, so you got an hour of extra distance for free.

Something that would have been trivial to foresee and prevent.

Instead they just shut off entries so anyone still racing at the time change wouldn't be in with a shout of winning anyway.

The entire game is ran client side and is so open to manipulation it's unreal. This could have all been avoided if they did what they should have done, and something any half competant coder would have done, and ran all vital code and calculations server side. By exposing the client to them they've just created a huge amount of problems that needn't have been there and that have prevented this ever being a fair contest.

God, this turned into a car crash didn't it?

I don't know why companies run these 'top of the leaderboard' wins all sort of competitions as it just seems to encourage people to find more and more inventive ways to cheat their way to the top. It's a fun enough game so why not just make it random in the picking of the winner from all that enter, that way people don't take it so seriously. I'm sure they'd get as many entrants but would be without the bad publicity due to them being rubbish at making a cheat/glitch free game.

When you get to the end and you're thousands down the line, it doesn't make you want to play again, it just makes you think 'what a waste of 5 bloody days'.

  • Have to agree with LoiueK07 i finished race on the 4th of March in under 5 hours, name appeared on leader board as leader for 30 mins and i took photo to prove it as i was reading about people losing time, 1.5 hours later i had dropped to 2nd and held this postion for 3 weeks before being removed this week after several mails to the Quacky team a lady calls me to tell me that the time now shown on the leader board was correct, yet they still removed me this week - why when confirmed by them it was correct. I then start to get mails saying i had a clitch and they were going to remove me, they sent me a mail on the 29th showing me the clitch info that had occured on the 4th, how the hell could i then start to race again ?

Not fair at all O2, money you paid the software developers should be reclaimed and put up as prize for us unlucky ones, with a random winner being chosen.

Current leader Alex as only cared for Duck 111 times, this game i believe was designed to be an endurance race, were the aim was to keep looking after you duck by topping it up to maintain speed, should'nt there then be a minimum top up qty required to show you have done exactly that ?

Too many inconsistances with the answers you have given people O2 PLEASE THINK ABOUT THESE ISSUES BEFORE YOU ANNOUNCE WINNER

can't even shoot the bloody things now seasons over - lol
