LBM: April 2009 - honest debt figure: Secured: £0.00!! (paid back april 2017) unsecured: £53117.48 (roughly) back with CCCS starting again:(
  • 40sm, just want you to know you are not alone. CT got paid by the skin of teeth (don't understand that phrase but hey ho). Then the car tax appears...always something.
My food budget is always my weak spot. I could quite happily live on jackets, salads, garlic mushrooms (don't ask !) and fish. My food bill would be £30 a week. But these two boys eat anything and everything.
    Sending positive budgeting vibes.

    Hi DC,

Yes i could quite happily live on all of the above ( even the garlic mushrooms!;)) Positive vibes gratefully received:)
  • Hi All

I have just subscribed to your thread, can I join the 'GANG'?

I am also a mum with 3 of my own (ages DS1 16, DS2 11 and DD5) and 1 borrowed (DS1's best mate also aged 16). I work 2 jobs (as per my name) and DH works 2/3 jobs.

My main employer has just gone through a restructure and jobs and locations have changed meaning I will be loosing £100 per week. MAJOR PANIC as we never seem to have enough money anyway.

I am still reading through all of the posts, got to page 13 so far so off to read some more!

    Back later

Hi 321, Welcome to the gang;)

£100 a week is a lot to lose. Any ideas what you are going to do ??

Good. I will look forward to your company. I have also put a list of things we still have to buy this week ( ie Dog £7.50) so that if we are tempted by a bottle of wine etc we will see if we really can afford it.:)

    Have a good weekend:D

Glad you're taking control of your food budget. Amazing how you take control of one thing and everything else will start to feel better. Dealing in cash is also a lot better as you physically see what you have left.

OH has taken £140 out of the bank today and spent £60 on the weeks food and we have £80 left to last us for the rest of the week, £10 left for food and £70 for everything else - £70 sounds a lot but it ends up going one way or another, on things like childcare, stuff for kids, stuff for house - but once it's gone it's gone!
    1st debt - Next [STRIKE]£583.32[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£408.71 [/STRIKE] £0 :j
    2nd debt - MBNA - £6,618.52
First in many many to go - baby steps and all that!
First lump sum to go - fingers crossed!
    08/06/09 - [STRIKE]£11,497.68[/STRIKE] NOW - £9,757.75
  • Hi IMD,

Just been reading your diary. Sounds like you had alovely day yesterday:)

I am really hoping the pot will work for us. I am at work at the moment trying to earn us some more money;). I have left DH with strict instructions that any money taken out of the pot must be accounted for with receipts and the change has to go back in the pot ( he wanted to keep it last night:rotfl:)

    Have a good day.;)
