Hi 40sm that has so cheered me up
Looks like you are getting very organised, well done :T I have been flying, grotspotting and batch cooking. Feeling very pleased to be so organised. Mr Budgie has been gone a month and its nice just having my own mess to clear up.
THE MOST ANNOYING thing with Mr Budgie is that he rolls his own tobacco and it gets everywhere (ok exaggeration, but it feels like it).
Still we are getting on better and we shall see how it goes.
Btw loving the pic of Sparky, he is a cutie.
Hugs matey I hope you have had a good weekend?

Hi 40sm (and everyone else)
Thank you for the warm welcome, I have finally read and caught up with all the posts!:T
Not sure how we are going to manage the drop in income (c £100 pw):(. We already pay all bills by DD from a seperate account, all have packed lunches, buy 'value' brands and whoopsies as much as possible when grocery shopping and I have stopped buying clothes and shoes (yes my DH was right - I do have enough already:rotfl:)
Don't think we will be having a holiday this summer (even a week in the trailer tent seems undoable at the moment) but we did go away for my 40th in January which was great (and quite cheap) and it was before we knew about the job thing.
Know where you are coming from with the food budget - a couple of years ago we would spend £100s a month on totally unnecessary items - DH would spend £50 easily and yet have no 'real' food with which to make a meal. We make most meals from scratch now and I batch bake for the lunch boxes, my lunch is usually homemade soup and whoopsied bread rolls - both frozen and taken out as i need them.
Hope things improve for you soon.

Hi, back again,
40SM have you checked out the threads on feeding your family for 50p each etc, there are some really good ideas for cheap nutritious meals.
I have been rummaging in my freezer and tonight we had homemade fish pie for tea and I have also cooked a liver and bacon casserole ready for tomorrow - yum! All the main ingredients were bought as 'whoopsies' and frozen until now! very MSE.:D Bearing in mind I am feeding 6 people I think the fish pie cost £3.50ish and the liver and bacon £3 so very close to the 50p each! I also made sure there was enough mash cooked to top the pie and save enough to serve with the liver tomorrow.
Another good tip is to freeze things like butter and cheese, which you often find in the whoopsie section, and then use them for cooking at a later date, I picked up some 400g blocks of cheese for 70 odd pence each the other day. Mushrooms also freeze well if you slice them and freeze them on a tray before bagging them, then just add them to your cooking (do not defrost), great for spag bol etc.
Sorry if I am rattling on tonight, have nights when I just can't sleep:(

Hi 40sm
haven't you been busy, glad the pots working for you, when it comes to the DH's I think I've finally shown mine the light as long as he's got beer in the frigde and peauts in cupboard, petrol to get to work he's relatively happy( well at the mo) I have said a number of times he's more than welcome to tackle the house if he wishes and deal with everything to keep it running( as you guested he turned down the offer!! typical) then men please stick to the rules, You may ware the trousers but we females make the rules.
Ok a bit unfair wont tar you all with the same brush!!
off shopping today chat soon we seen to be missing each other.
BTW love the Pup I'm sure i saw you playing in the park a few weeks ago!!
