Hi 40sm
haven't you been busy, glad the pots working for you, when it comes to the DH's I think I've finally shown mine the light as long as he's got beer in the frigde and peauts in cupboard, petrol to get to work he's relatively happy( well at the mo) I have said a number of times he's more than welcome to tackle the house if he wishes and deal with everything to keep it running( as you guested he turned down the offer!! typical) then men please stick to the rules, You may ware the trousers but we females make the rules.
Ok a bit unfair wont tar you all with the same brush!!

I've been thinking about you alot over yesterday - and of our strategies for making sure folks are happy and not grabbing extra money for food etc.
Nothing much to add yet - just that I've been thinking of you!!!!!!!!!!!
We dropped from over 400/600 a month (2+ years ago) - and we've settled at about £200 now (although we do have disaterous months) - there are less of us - but it did take a while to 'retrain' everyone. SO I feel your frustration!!
I also don't have you're open access to shops and things like MacDonalds!
Goodluck with the transitioin and you know you can really do it!!!! xxTotal debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.
Total debt as of 28/4/19 £7867.38:eek:
minus 112.06 = £7755.32:money:

40SM have you checked out the threads on feeding your family for 50p each etc, there are some really good ideas for cheap nutritious meals.
I have been rummaging in my freezer and tonight we had homemade fish pie for tea and I have also cooked a liver and bacon casserole ready for tomorrow - yum! All the main ingredients were bought as 'whoopsies' and frozen until now! very MSE.:D Bearing in mind I am feeding 6 people I think the fish pie cost £3.50ish and the liver and bacon £3 so very close to the 50p each! I also made sure there was enough mash cooked to top the pie and save enough to serve with the liver tomorrow.
Another good tip is to freeze things like butter and cheese, which you often find in the whoopsie section, and then use them for cooking at a later date, I picked up some 400g blocks of cheese for 70 odd pence each the other day. Mushrooms also freeze well if you slice them and freeze them on a tray before bagging them, then just add them to your cooking (do not defrost), great for spag bol etc.
Sorry if I am rattling on tonight, have nights when I just can't sleep:(
321 xx
321,
Thank you so much for the tips:T I certainly must to more of the whoopsie and freeze thing:D . Hope you managed to get some sleep!! Have a good day.

Household pot has not got much left in it:( Must update later. Had to buy DS3 a school jumper yesterday for £13 so feeling poor !!
Must now go and walk the dog then get to work
Have a good day everyone.

Hope you have a good day at work and must be a relief that the kids are back at school and normal life can resume.
I'm sure you'll manage to get that shopping budget down..it just takes time.
I agree it's tiring thinking about the debt all the time but eventually it will become second nature implementing all the little tricks and then the debt won't be on your mind all the time.0 -

Hello Mrs - glad to hear you have done the pot thing. It takes a while to sink in and work when it comes to OH's but my OH is really really good now and you know how hard I had to work on him! He is responsible for taking the money out of the bank and the food shopping and he knows what is left in the tin is it!
If it is written down as well and has to be accounted for it really makes you think about where it goes.
Love the puppy by the way, wish I could shrink mine back down to puppydom!1st debt - Next [STRIKE]£583.32[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£408.71 [/STRIKE] £0 :j

Still thinking about things - we're slowly getting on top of money stuff - but as you say its sometimes exhausting thinking about it all the time. My main headache is the food stuff - its one of our only 'vices' and I'm constantly having to keep myself in check. Like Taxi says it takes time......................xxxxx Sounds like you're going great guns already.
I think you used to post on the small things thread - its my main one for motivating myself and making sure I do those peedie things regularily enough to change habits (for me anyway!!) might be worth a go?
I also loved the Mbaz feed a family thread - picked up lots of tips on eeking things out on that thread and I absolutely LOVE this thread.......
Sneaky ways to save the pennies.....
It took DD and I ages to get through it and we had a hoot reading about the things some folks did - if nothing else its a bit of fun and a few 'sneaky' ideas to exercise some subliminal control over those few things we can. I still do a few things on this thread(But don't tell anyone else in my house!!!!!)
OK will stop hijacking your diary now - hugs lovelypuppy is asleep by my legs (free heat!!)
