Oh and OH just rung to say car failed and they want £260 to get it back on the road. They say discs are worn and they were only fitted four weeks ago!!!!!!!! Now that's it I have had enough this life is S*** Taking car back to our mechanic so see why it should have failed on the discs. When OH said they had only just been changed they gave another reason disc related. And this a big High Street company. Billie

They always say the discs need renewed. Hmmmm! Unless you've been doing non-stop handbrake turns in the last 4 weeks, I can't see how they've been worn!

Dodgy mechanics and dodgy builders... can we round them all up and subject them to ridicule at the very, very, very least!

I took my car to the local council's testing station which also does the public's cars, on the basis that they don't do repairs so won't charge you a few quid to adjust things or replace bulbs that were fine when you took it in. Still failed but the guy was a Volvo owner and seemed to like me because I took an interest. He was generous about a tyre that was borderline. Also recommended a specialist to look at the electronic fuel thingymabob which failed the emissions test. Not a bad way of doing it.

Maybe your 'You Can't Get Thicker Than A Kwik Fit Ficker' bunch only changed the pads but not discs or the discs were oily? Could wreck the pads in a few days.

Hope you get complete climbdown from them. I fart in their general direction.

They do. They just don't tell me :(

And I really need a hug, too ;)

Something must have changed because I did something this morning I haven't done for months.

Had evaporated milk in my coffee. Utter pleasure.

OMG - Now I hate to say this but that makes you officially old!!! :D

I remember that growing up. It was a Sunday thing in our house. I haven't had that for years. Did you have the Custard Creams to go with it? Or perhaps Malted Milk?

Oh , and here is a hug. I'm not computer literate enough to do the symbols for a cyber hug I'm afraid. I get my hugs from the cat - normally at 4am demanding food, when she isn't treading all over my hair!!

Think of this day as the beginning of the rest of your life. Remember these little things to keep you going.

My mum sent me a card today and I thought it appropriate to share with you.

    Keep Your Chin Up

    This thing won't last forever
You'll get over it you'll see
    Things will very shortly
Be like they used to be
You just keep your chin up
And on this you can depend
    Everything will turn out right
    Believe me, in the end.

I'll be your PA if you pay me enough!! We had a lovely weekend actually perhaps I should go back to my friends and just walk their dogs and scream in the middle of the fields where no one can hear me!!!!! Car in for new windscreen £75 before going in for the MOT 2 hours later. Told OH he can only ring me if its good news!! Billie xx

Don't think I'd be on MSE debt threads if I could afford PA's & Accountants but if I ever win the lotto, you're hired & name your price.:rotfl:

For some reason, I keep paying for services without the service!!!

Just read through the posts & I see your day didn't get any better!!!

Why does everything go wrong at once??? If I was you, I'd be inclined to stay in bed tomorrow, the way your lucks going, whats tomorrow gonna cost!:p

Only messing!!! Wishing you a better day tomorrow & hope GOOD luck is with you all day.:)

Evening all, just caught up with the daily goings on at "Allgonesowrongsville".

Everyone seems to be rather chirpy even though you's haven't had the best of days (failed MOT's, dodgy tradesmen etc..).

My day has been fine, although most of my days are just fine. Sometimes I wish I could have a bad day so my "fine" days will feel like good days! lol

Whenever I take my car for an MOT I always talk to the person who will actually do the MOT, tell them the little quirks of the car like, if you lock the drivers door you have to go in through the passenger door to open it. Without fail I mention that "MY MECHANIC" blah blah blah. That way they know for certain that whatever they fail it on, they will not be fixing it.

I have a fab mechanic, heaven know's what I'm going to do when he retires. He's so good I've paid him twice what he asked for when he's done little things on the car. There are good ones out there!

I had a good plumber once, then my ballcock went in the cold water storage thingy in the loft and I got flooded out. I couldn't get hold of him so haven't used him again since, got a mate to fix the problem after the firemen had helped get all the water out of the loft (I didn't call them, my ex lodger did). They were lovely though, drilled a small hole in the ceiling of the landing and released the water into a plastic chute down the stairs and out the front door. God bless our firemen!

I haven't got any scary builder stories, but then I haven't had any building done yet!

Mike, I love Honey Nut cornflakes, can't afford them myself (being poor). I usually have Morrisons Fruit n Fibre (not for breakfast but instead of crisps).

I feel a little left out actually because I haven't been over charged for anything! :-( No bank charges, credit card charges, PPi's mis-sold insurances, in fact I insure nothing but my car!

The good news is, this week I have found 600% more money on the street than I got in interest on my ISA savings! Yay! (That would be 6 pence then!).

Oh well, must get off, see you all again soon and keep all your chins up.
