Oi, Mike, Christine just sent me a very excited e-mail - apparantly they have finally located a shovel big enough to handle all the mess your beloved builder left behind:
Oh thats good.....pmsl....:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Money is the root of all evil! :eek:Give me yours and save yourself!!0 -

In the dull days ahead, it might be interesting, if people want to, to hear how this thread struck a chord with anything in their own life. Maybe it's not so much about builders? Has it made you think differently about anything?
The more posts, the better, even if it's just a few words.
For me, it's shown that being more open can be a good thing...

Don't know how I managed to look this one over?
Think this is a great idea Mike.
All DIY talk OFF the thread for now seems like a sensible idea!
I look forward to posting on here because SOOOO many nice people come to visit this very funny fella called Mike! Any talk of the DIY wotsit leaves too many people out!.....Including the main man!!!
Could be fun so come back guys! The thread works because of ALL of you!:o

*giggles*
I got home tonight to find a letter from HSBC about my credit card. The gist of it was as follows:
"Your credit card is due for renewal, but we notice you haven't used it in ages, so unless you tell us otherwise we won't bother sending a new card and will close down the account. Hope to hear from you!"
Yeah, right - haven't touched that thing since I got my cashback card, ain't starting now! :rotfl:Never even activated the last card, so it's nice of them to save me the hassle of having to contat them to close the accountNever underestimate the power of the techno-geek...0 -

Glad to know that you saw me waving Happy, can I put my arms down now?
I should have said that apart from hassles from tradesMEN, I could identify with how depression can affect you. Things happen and it's easy to lose all faith in people. Everybody on here has restored my faith in people and then some! :A
Also chuffed that the friendship I've formed with some of the posters here are the kind that will last well beyond the end of the thread!
It's a bonus to know that some of you have just as many 'QUIRKS' as I do!:p
poo...just seen your e-mail honey and about to reply but couldn't wait any longer to send you big squashy HUGS!:A

Thats a spade
Nice to know in advance Cat that you're the kind of person who likes to call a spade a spade! :rotfl:
Evening all.
Miggy hope your mom gets better soon. Take care, thinking of you.
Happy, so happy that you're happy now.
Jes, I hope The Dolls House doesn't get swallowed up in a sinkhole like that in Guatemala City!
Thanks SB, I'd forgotten about that post of Mike's.
I'd just like to say a huge thank you to everyone who's posted within the last 24 hours. I've had a bit of a stressfull day today. I finished work today after nearly 25 years at the same place. I feel really guilty for feeling so sad because it's not like I haven't got another job to go to it's just that I didn't choose to change my job!
I appologise to any who are not working and would love to be, I really don't mean to sound ungrateful and I realise how lucky I am that I am not being made redundant. The sadness comes from having to say goodbye to some lovely people who I have literally grown up with, shared good times (Christmas lunches and getting bladdered at the pub after work) and bad (mouring the loss of cherished colleagues - there's been a few, illnesses, low morale, threat of redundancies etc.) with. But what hit me the worst was leaving the building, even though I've crumpled into a wreck at the sight of it in my dark days, leaving the building was like leaving a home that I'd lived in for most of my life. Twas very sad.
But thanks to the people on here, I've laughed at your posts and taken comfort in knowing that starting something new (like a thread on a forum) can lead to something magical.
Thank you all.
And now I'm crying again! I am so emotional tonight! Sorry for that, please somebody slap me!

:smileyhea Oh Poo you are so sad. Sending you big cuddly hugs.
When my late husband decided to come to England to the London Office of Time Magazine, after 30 years in Holland I left behind friendships that had been years in the making, a house on the beach that I loved and a way of life I was so used to . You move on, however difficult. Memories are the charms on the bracelet of life.
the next stage could be just as fun. I have a house that I love again, and the peace of the Kent countryside. Chin up, tomorrow is another day.

Aawww thanks for your kind words and I know you are right, we do move on with our bracelet and all the charms on it. I'm sure I'll settle in to my new job and be happy as Larry when I meet you all on the 17th.
