Just my daily check in, as the big day draws ever nearer
And as for Oystercatchers question of what the difference between a spade and a shovel....
A spade is a digging implement with a "sharp" cutting edge and a strong, flat blade, a shovel is similar but is for moving material, often doesn't have the sharp blade and has a scooped blade with edges to stop the material falling out...

Afternoon all.
Thank you all for your kind words and understanding, I am feeling much better today. I know it's very difficult to get a job or even keep a job in the current climate and I can't even begin to imagine what it would be like leaving/losing your job with nothing to go to. Part of my upsetedness (I just made that word up I think) could have been attributed to guilt and realising how much worse my brother felt having been made redundant after almost 30 years with the same employer a few months ago. Luckily he's working again now. Good luck to anyone who is looking for work.
Matymoo, it's true you often spend more time with work colleagues than family, even if you have family at home (spouse, children). I don't so I guess that's why I bought my sadness home with me. Anyway, as I said, I'm good now and as has been said by others some friendships stand the test of time whether you see those friends often or not.
Oyster, I am "young", just not as young as I used to be! I still have another 20+ years to work before I can retire! Boo! Hiss! Actually, on the plus side, I have the opportunity to build a great career for myself and my new employer will probably be more inclined to invest in my training knowing there is many years to recoup the costs of their investment. That's the plan from my end anyway! lol
Mike, I hope you enjoy your stay away from your little cottage. I bet you are so excited and probably somewhat nervous too! I know I would be.
Anyway, I have to be gone for now! Running late now due to a 1 hour phone call from the mother! Bless her!
Have a great day everyone and catch up later.

Can I be on the newsletter circuit pleeeease!!
Have been pretty much a lurker since the beginning, & hate the thought that I can't see what is going on. I would have loved to have come down to help, but a pesky operation got in the way of that.
Do I need to PM anyone to get the newsletter?[/QUOTE]
Yes cardio you need to PM me with your email and I will put you on the list of recipients. Lots happening.

Hi Phyco, calm down all is at peace. :A SB and I realised that all the old faithfulls that have supported this thread so brilliantly were now totally out of the loop with the activities of those going down to sort Mike out!!:rotfl:plus the fact that everything is so cloak and dagger soooo....I will be writing a little chat each day (hopefully) telling those who wish to know what is going on.
OK?:p

Thought you were barred for disruptive behaviour young man! As penance, you can go keep my diary up to date, it's been way too quiet recently... (just gloss over the bank charges due to utter stupidity, will you? Oh and start up a dicussion on the pros and cons of maxi versus mini dresses whilst renovating too...)*giggles*
I got home tonight to find a letter from HSBC about my credit card. The gist of it was as follows:
"Your credit card is due for renewal, but we notice you haven't used it in ages, so unless you tell us otherwise we won't bother sending a new card and will close down the account. Hope to hear from you!"
Yeah, right - haven't touched that thing since I got my cashback card, ain't starting now! :rotfl:Never even activated the last card, so it's nice of them to save me the hassle of having to contat them to close the account
 Never trust the pesky little blighters! Check they've actually closed it! They're sneaky like that!SouthernBellE* wrote: »:hello::hello::hello::hello::hello::hello::hello::hello::hello:
Glad to know that you saw me waving Happy, can I put my arms down now?
I should have said that apart from hassles from tradesMEN, I could identify with how depression can affect you. Things happen and it's easy to lose all faith in people. Everybody on here has restored my faith in people and then some! :A
Me too honey! And I'm guessing there's lots of me threes, fours and fives! I'm pretty certain this thread has now become a staple of all good counselling courses.
Currently there are a glut of students attempting to compose eloquent discursive essays differentiating between various forms of madness and humour present in the thread.
All of them are chasing their tails and repeatedly rocking in the corner. Many of them have taken to adding carnation milk to their coffee. A brave few have dug out their Jimmy Choos and are currently carting off their previous drafts to the back of the garden in a purple wheelbarrow. At which point they break down and cry becaause thay have no idea whether they ought to use a spade or a shovel when loading the furnace.
They haven't yet realised the significance of the charm bracelets bestowed upon them at birth.
Also chuffed that the friendship I've formed with some of the posters here are the kind that will last well beyond the end of the thread!
May this thread never die! (Though even if it does, you're going to be hard-pushed to get rid of me even if you do live at the other end ofthe country!)
It's a bonus to know that some of you have just as many 'QUIRKS' as I do!:p
Some of us? :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
poo...just seen your e-mail honey and about to reply but couldn't wait any longer to send you big squashy HUGS!:A
PS..Nice one jesthar! :T
And yes, Christine did email me but got my email address wrong, which is why I never heard a peep. I have spoken to her now though. I'll be around most of the week but will need to shoot off pronto on Friday as I need to get back up to Scotland that evening, so no champers for me big reveal. Happy, if you're not on shift, can you raise a glass on my behalf sometime on Friday morning please?
