Hello Lisa, have been reading your diary with interest, am offering practical support as I'm pretty rubbish at the other stuff due to suffering with post natal depression myself! I have recently done the same with my cottage and have perfected tiling and a certain amount of plumbing amongst other things! I love DIY but unfortunately my house is finished now and I'm just driving OH nuts with constantly changing stuff now! I'm in Wiltshire, PM me if you like.
Nothing to report as yet...give me a minute...!

Lisa glad to see you posting today.

To everyone on this post, I'm fairly new to this board and all of your caring thoughts and wanting to help Lisa has just made me well up knowing that we are surrounded by such caring people. You have all left me speechless and very thankful to be a part of this support group.

    Thank you!

Lisa, even if you don't send that letter, it must have felt good to write it, it made me feel good to read it. I hope the papers take your story. I understand how you feel about not wanting the help in this manor at the time and want to have closure legally before doing so. Hearts to you lady.
  • Hi Lisa

1 Have you reported him to trading standards?

2 Also try googling his name/the name of his company and see if he advertises on any other websites - then contact them/leave feedback saying you wouldn't recommend him. Where does he advertise? Get in first and tell them how rubbish he is!

3 (please don't think me a bad person for suggesting this) what about reporting him to the tax office for tax evasion? If he's as awful as he sounds I expect he won't be doing his taxes properly or declaring things like your £20k... likewise if you happen to know if he or his wife are receiving any benefits, maybe report them? They might not be behaving illegally but if so, a little investigation into his affairs won't be a problem?

I know, I'm terrible. Ah well...

    Hi Lisa,

I haven't managed to read the thread in detail - but I know many of the wonderful people on here have been concerned about you - and I just wanted to come in quickly to say hello.

Dealing with situations like this can be hell - and while I know your living conditions are currently less than adequate, in time that will improve. Have you tried your local job centre which may be able to offer an emergency or crisis loan for any immediate work to be done (see the debt help guide).

Yet more importantly, especially as this obviously isn't helpful for your mental health, I think contacting someone like Christians Against Poverty would be a very good move (don't worry about the Christian bit, thats about their funding not their methodology) they give a lot more time to help with debts than the other debt agency and are brilliant and helping through the emotional consequences of such things.

I think you need someone who can dedicate time to being on your side and make you feel your less on your own.

    - sadly whether it can help depends on where you live - but its worth a try. I wish you all the best

After almost 2 years of chaos, heartbreak and disappointment, I,m not surprised you need a time out to plan your next move and to decide how much more you can take.

You've gone through so many changes in a short space of time and have had your plans and dreams shattered because of an unjust system and actions of a greedy builder who clearly has no heart or conscience!!

I DO NOT think for one moment that you are mean or unfriendly.TBH I think you are very resilient and determined !

As much as I wish you your dream home and hope you have fight left in you, I know this has affected your health and your health MUST come first.

You have endured so much already and only you can decide your next move. Being a private person, only you can know the impact on your health any attention will bring. There are options and there is time and your dream home is achievable if you decide to battle on.

Take the time you need to decide what is best for you.

Thank you for the PM, (What were you doing up so late!!!) Glad to hear you had a better day, a cuppa and a chat with a pal works wonders eh!!!
Pleased to hear GP is supportive & hope he can help with your other hurdle.(My god, it all goes on at once doesn't it....I'm not surprised you need time to take stock of it all)

Have a great weekend with your boys, it'll do you good to be able to talk about OTHER things in life and hopefully a break from the situation. (being surrounded by the problem must consume your thoughts every waking hour!)

Good luck with EVERYTHING thats going on and PLEEase look after yourself.

Here if and when you want. xx

Just to reiterate - is anyone here legally qualified or can tell me whether it's correct that I can't even apply for a force of sale despite having a final charging order on his house, if he and his wife are tenants in common?

If it's borderline, can I put in an application for a force of sale and another for an attachment to earnings so if one fails I can revert to the other?

    Thanks
