    CWCDrive and the like.

Just do not shop in the retailers that request identification from you. It is really is that simple.

    Simple.

    Very simple.

    Very very simple.

    Very very very simple.

I have given you my opinion and I believe I am correct. I shall not be fielding any questions on the matter and the matter is closed..
Except for a couple of tiny little flaws..............YOUR NOT CORRECT and IT'S NOT CLOSED.

You can neither PROVE you are correct, show evidence you are correct nor are you even "nearly" correct.

By all means have a tant about it, but unfortunately, it does not make you any less wrong than you quite clearly ARE! This is not just my opinion, it is called common sense.

Neither are you correct in your assumption or "opinion" to be in any position to claim this matter is closed, however you are free to leave this thread and lick your wounds of frustration for being so INCORRECT.

    It is really that simple.

    Simple.

    Very simple.

    Very very simple.

    Very very very simple.

Any further comments, posts or responses you have shall be treated much as your last post; as frustration or rant. Thank you. :D

One tiny little flaw in your argument.

Where does a retailer tell you before you shop, that they require age related ID for a TOMATO BASED PASTA SAUCE?

But how is anyone supposed to know that they will be asked for ID for pasta sauce?

    Answer that one
    Simple.

    Question.

Today pasta sauce, tomorrow rum & raisin ice cream, where will it end.

Possibly not, I don't work in co-op so I can not claim to know for sure.

Your ignorance did not stop you claiming otherwise elsewhere in the thread.
All I do know is people like myself don't work in shops for the fun, we do it because we need the money, and so if our employer says we need to do certain things, if they are not illegal or immoral, then we usually do them. I know I'm not risking my job to pacify some of the !!!!wits on here.

There's only one !!!!wit in this thread.

    And again:

I'm not suggesting that the poster who couldn't get her son to carry the bag was trying to "supply him", but just that it falls under that law. I don't like it either tbh, but it's what we gotta do.

    The person asking me?
Did they invent it themselves or was it some self-important little twerp at head office?
so i refuse to show them id which in turn means i cannot buy a paint scraper thus inconveniencing me or i could just show my id which takes about 30 seconds?
You will obey their petty diktat or they will make life difficult for you. Hmmm. Surrendering to the bullies has never been so easy.
and the answer would be one of the following a) tesco
    b)head office c) the till
So no authority at all, actually. They just made it up.
still no where near obtaining the paint scraper
Maybe go somewhere where you aren't treated with contempt?
maybe but by obeying orders the "stupid" person behind the till is avoiding any comeback on them.
Then see to it that they don't avoid it. Dictatorships depend on nasty little nobodies who feel that they are now somebodies.

I am but a simple customer of food retail establishments. I have read the original post and I am thoroughly confused by some of the subsequent responses in this thread. Will those amongst you with experience of working in the food retail industry please answer the following questions?

If you were responsible for entering data into a food retailer's database, would you identify an alcohol free pasta based cooking sauce as requiring age verifiication?

If you were a till operator at a food retail establishment and an alcohol free pasta based cooking sauce was highlighted on your till as requiring age verification, would you ask the customer for proof of age?

If you were a supervisor at a food retail establishment and were called to a till that identified an alcohol free pasta based cooking sauce as requiring age verification, would you insist that the customer provided proof of age?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, Please explain the following: -

What is your reason for requiring age verification for customers to purchase alcohol free pasta based cooking sauce?

What do you consider to be the minimum age at which you would permit a customer to purchase an alcohol free pasta based cooking sauce?

What would you consider to be an acceptable form of age verification in order for customers to purchase an alcohol free pasta based cooking sauce?
