I've been ID'd for a cuttlery set (just regular cheap set for camping no pointy steak knifed or anything) and also a wallpaper scraper and the twirl at the counter insisted they were "very sharp you know!" lol no you numpty they really aren't!
Also when the till beeped for the basic cuttlery set it didn't then beep when the metal kebab skewers went through and I'm pretty sure if offered a sharp metal skewer or a round ended blunt table knife and criminal would pick the skewer (or maybe the spoon I could be wrong).
Also how come at 18 you can buy a gas oporated BB gun from our nearest gun store (yes we do have a gun store not far away) but not a small can of spray paint from B&Q?
There's no continuity I swear they just make this stuff up as they go along."Life is what you make of it, whoever got anywhere without some passion and ambition?0 -
And what about the US? You can get an uzi at like, three years old, and get married to your own uncle at 12... but can't have a pint until you're 30 or something."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0

Yeah it is. But it goes to show having a credit card is no proof of age as you can just lie about your date of birth when you apply.
That's a stupid argument - I can go buy a fake passport/driving licence and that will be accepted. It's still illegal and so by your argument they shouldn't be accepting driving licences or passports.0 -
Just wanted to resurrect one of my favourite threads...!
Seriously though, I was in Asda yesterday on their self-service scan thingies and I got age verified for Rennies. Huh?
I'm guessing that more and more stuff these days is going to be subject to some sort of age check.
But why a kid can't buy Rennies is beyond me. Imagine how many you'd have to eat before you overdosed?! You'd be foaming at the mouth."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -

Have you attempted to purchase tomato based cooking sauce via these self service machines?
Rennies, serious business. Standby for the apologists to come running with various insane reasons why children shouldn't have access to them...It must be accepted as a principle that the rifle cannot replace the speed of the horse, the magnetism of the charge and the terror of cold steel.

Ok lets compile a complete list of all the ridiculous items that a till pings for an ID check.
THESE ITEMS ARE LISTED (found online - not personally confirmed....yet)
Chicken in White Wine Sauce
Brillo Pad
Wire Brush
BBQ Sauce
Red Bull
Energy Drinks
No More Nails
Party Poppers
Hair Spray
Chewing Gum
Bleach
I know there are bound to be many more, other than the obvious solvents, alcohol, tobacco, etc. What other daft items can you think of to add?:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A
