To avoid spaghetti junction on the dashboard? I have a Medion with separate charger and receiver and the only thing I don't like about it is the plethora of wires!I spelt my username wrongly on purpose, by the way!0 -
fair enough its not much bother for me, I find that the i3 will often switch itself off when running on batteries when they get about half full, it is also far less audible at this stage. I would use the car power supply where possible.0

When you turn the unit off the batteries keep a memory of the satellite info so the unit finds your position faster.0 -
Don't know if aldi still have their batteries - but worth a try. Bargain (even if not so high rated) at £1.99 for 4. The charger wasn't a lot more than that either. There is no intelligent life out there ... ask any goldfish!0

The i3 handbook says you need rechargeable batteries of at least 2300Mah. I bought a Uniross charger with 4 batteries off Ebay under £9, the batteries last about 5 hours in the sat nav.0

I use 2100mAh and 2500mAh batteries and can't tell the difference. Just make sure you go in to 'settings' and change the battery setting from Alkaline to NiMh.0

Had a play with one in Comet today. It failed to find either my street which has been here 7 years, or the postcode which changed 6 years ago.
When it failed to find the address, and I used the postcode I expected it to put an X on the map where the street is. Nope, all it knew was that postcode range was associated to a particular town, and that was all.
If it is this bad with fairly old postcodes, does it know about roads built in the last few years?
I think I will wait for one with more up to date maps.0 -
