It sucks but you can't change the fact hes done it. Is his business on shaky ground? Can he bring in £900 to cover the credit card before interest starts being charged on it? Does he have any other overdue business debts that you don't know about?

Hi Red just read your diary and will be following to support. I have a man exactly the b****y same. They think cos theyr'e working hard its ok somehow, then talk themselves into deserving whatever it is they fancy at the time IYKWIM. The debt figures in this house are left to me to work out and budget. He knows my plan but never shows that much interest. Im doing well now and only started properly last June, so now my payments are much more than the minimum so the debt is going down. Yours will too , you seem very determined and you will get there.

  • Sorry to hear about your OH helpfully paying for things. It is sometimes like talking to a brick wall when it comes to money and men!

I fear that yes you would get quite a long time if you kill him............... and you could go bankrupt......brighter side and all that :rotfl:

You know at least brick walls hold a house together!!

Knowing him like I do, he will be like a sheep for a week and, as a result, put a load on Ebay and will tell me each day what he has done to save us money. This is due to the fact that after I found out about the debt, I EXPLODED (which I rarely do, normally he shouts and I sit calmly and patronise him about his lack of control and respect!! I know, horrible but it wins me the arguement). I told him colourfully that we cannot spend ANYTHING without consultation. He is now afraid to buy bread and milk! Job Done (for a little while);)

There is no point in negative thought, it takes up time and energy which could be used in a positive, happy way!

Thanks Moo2moo - not exactly shaky but creditors, like everyone, are slow to pay and so debitors are shouting for money! Yes he will bring in £900 before interest but it wont be going to that card (6.8% for life of balance) as it is the cheapest (and was therefore set aside to transfer Richard Bransons debt to)
LOL at any overdue business debts I DONT know about - there is not one penny owed to us that I dont know about!
But as you say, I cant change it and he wont be able to do it again, cuz I threw all cards into the fire!

Tufty6 - welcome aboard the Skylard and thanks for reading!

You know I think we are all married to the same man! I explained/screamed at DH yesterday that he chooses not to involve himself in our debt management and isn't he a lucky boy to be able to stick his head in the sand!
You are doing fantastic - what was the method to your maddness and did you have a lot of hurdles to get over at the start, because I feel its just one after the other right now!

Funny you should mention ebay - listed 57 CDs/DVDs this week and sold 10 so far (6 didn't sell) - £28.20 to me! Listed 44 on Amazon - 2 have sold, maybe it is a lot slower! £28.88 to me!

DH cried about his DVDs going. The CDs are mostly mine and mostly from the 80's and I LOVED them. Almost all evoke a good memory but hey the memories of £49k going will be better!

I have some clothes to list but that bores the pants of me, at least CD/DVDs have stock photos and info but needs must......

    Debt-free and Proud!
    Hi Red

Hope that OH of yours sticks to not buying or paying for anything without consultation first.

Here's hoping.. new week and all that.

Sounds like EBay is going well. Wouldn't get too despondent re clothes - generally I think they sell OK as long as you put a low/reasonable starting price. I have shifted most things I have listed. I think buyers get put off by a high starting price - everyone likes a bargain.

Have set myself a goal of selling £60 worth (after fees/postage) before end of March, Think it may be a stretch. Had best get listing again:)
