The 'No More Buying DVDs Until I Have Watched the Ones I Already Own' Thread

Hi Pickle, you're doing well with the challenge. My daughter Emma and I are working out way through the Supernatural Series 1-5 box set I got for Christmas. Finished Season 1 last night.
Finding it difficult to find the time to watch anything though as I've got back into reading and spend too much time playing the games on Facebook. Haven't bought a new book in a while though as the department I work in has moved and I'm right near our Central Library now.Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

I feel your pain, VALM: I'm slacking on the reading as a result of watching the DVDs, but I guess so long as I am doing one or the other it's all positive, and that I will get there in the end.
'The end' will be a long time from here, mind! Please call me 'Pickle'

Love this thread - what a great idea! I have 100s of DVDs and a chunk of them are unwatched - bit scared about counting them up though I will try to get the courage to and post the numbers of unwatched up!
I have been trying not to buy any more as I have now run out of storage room - oops!My efforts have been helped by Lovefilm which has at least stopped me buying cheap films because they are cheap and sound quite good, which they often aren't!
My biggest challenge lately is actually TV boxsets which i buy far more regularly than films and take longer to watch! Must try harder!
Hopefully writing down the numbers will give me a bit more incentive to be good!No more buying books Books in 2016 = 20.
Target for 2018 = 7/21
No more buying DVDs ? 2018 target 27/52

Welcome blindtoast (were you eaten by threeblindmice?!).
I know what you mean. I have a list ready to go, but I am seriously overworked at the minute and don't have the chance to watch much. I fully plan to go mad with the film-watching.
Oh, also, I watched Brief Encounter at a friend's house on Saturday night. It's not one of my DVDs from the stash, so I can't count it, but it was very, very good and I would recommend it to anyone who hasn't watched it.Please call me 'Pickle'

Brief encounter is on my list of bought but not watched DVDs so I'm glad to hear it was good. I've not managed to watch anything lately as I've been trying to clear some of the things of my Sky + box which is useful but not reducing my pile of DVDs! Have discovered some good programmes though - Body of Proof and Chase have been excellent.
Don't think I've bought any films lately though so at least I've not increased the pile!!No more buying books Books in 2016 = 20.

I have to admit that I bought a film and a TV series this weekend
- though I don't feel too bad as they are ones i've been looking for at the right price for a while now. Leverage S2 and All about Steve, which I know a lot of reviews panned but I really like it.
On a better note I have finally got around to watching Bandslamwhich was a lovefilm disc so doesn't really count but it does mean that I've been able to post it back after it being in my house for about 2 months - I thought it was very good. Not as like High School Musical as I was expecting!
Must try harder this week!No more buying books Books in 2016 = 20.

Makes me feel better that I'm not the only one doing this!
Watched another lovefilm disc - "A bunch of amateurs" - very enjoyable. sent that back this morning so even if i'm not reducing my pile of owned and unwached films I am at least keeping these turning over! And it means I'm not buying more, which is obviously good!
Good luck with your sky+ viewing Pickle - think i'm about caught up now - apart from the ongoing recording of Criminal Minds which I can't watch until I've seen the last series (on preorder with no guilt!)No more buying books Books in 2016 = 20.

I finally got off the mark last night when I watched Layer Cake, which was still wrapped from when I bought it (no idea when)!
Was quite good although it was strange to see Dumbledore as a gangster! Lets see if I can keep this film watching going! No more buying books Books in 2016 = 20.

Oooh, I didn't know he was in that: Bond's a baddie, too, isn't he?
I've just spent the day totally demolishing my room and making my DVDs more accessible: I think I may be in a position to polish off a few more, now. Please call me 'Pickle'
