I bought the rs21 in december of 2007. An engineer came and twiddled with it to 'prevent' the possible fire from the manufacturing fault. It packed in with the ice problem at 3years old and was replaced by Samsung with RSH5UBMH. 3 years on this has the SAME problem but samsung deny that this model has the manufacturing fault. I am LIVID!! 2 fride freezers in 7 years!!! DO NOT buy samsung :mad:0

My samsung american style ff is having problems making ice
I havent read through the whole thread but can anybody point me in the right direction as to what might be the problem please?
The mechanics are working fine, the freezer is trying to put water into the ice tray and it thinks there is filled ice in the later as it trys to tip it out and then refill the tray with more water again....but no water is going into the tray?
We have checked the water pipe but cant see a fault....
Anybody have any ideas on what the problem might be?

Hi all,
I fixed the problem with our Samsung using the details in post #53 (excellent job with the post by the way).
However, the water dispenser has packed in and the fridge is nowhere near as cold as it was, even though the reading shows 3 degrees like it was before.
Any ideas before I call in the cavalry lol!

Hi,
My fridge-freezer is having issues. The top half of the model is cool and the bottom is freezing. I don't know if there is a motor problem. I was wondering if I can buy a part and fit it in myself.

Our old american fridge freezer has given up on us now, we have borrowed a under counter fridge and are now using our neighbours chest freezer! Thank heavens they have some space! We have decided to get a samsung american fridge freezer and have found a model on this shop
samsungamericanfridgefreezer com
They are asking £850 for this model. Is this a good price and is samsung a good make?
Can anyone give any recommendations?
Thanks

Good morning all,
Having previously been helped enormously with out Samsung fridge freezer by the good folks on this thread, I'm back to ask another question.
Have been having the fridge freezing up issues for years, repaired twice by Samsung (for free, fair play to them) but still getting problems now and again.
I'm confident enough now to take the panel out, defrost it and put it back, which solves the cooling problems, but now our water dispenser is not working either.
I defrosted the fridge back panel this weekend hoping that the water would just start working again as well but this has not worked.
Does anyone know of a way to get the water flowing from the dispenser again? The engineer that came previously managed it so there must be a way.

Just managed to do it this weekend. Pull out the top Veg drawer (in fact pull out both the drawers) and you can see a white plastic container behind which reminded me of a small set of bagpipes. Ok, just me then. It has a flexible water pipe coming out of it. This is what has stopped your water from flowing as it has frozen.
Switch the fridge off at the mains, open the fridge door (no need to do the freezer) and let it defrost for an hour or so. If you need to speed the process then you can pour some hot water onto the white plastic thing.
It turns out that the white plastic bagpipe thingy is actually a water reservoir and the cooler above it will be freezing the water in it.
The next problem you are likely to get is the noisy fan so follow the advice earlier on in this thread to cure that as this is also caused by the fan icing up.
Anyway, once you have defrosted around the reservoir (I unscrewed it and chipped off the ice build up behind) then the water should start to flow again.
Hope it helps?

I have nothing but problems with Samsung devices, the list is long
Samsung Galaxy smartphone - went dead after 6 months Samsung said water damage, never had any water into it, opened it is more dry than the surface of Mars.
[NASA should have asked Samsung engineers to find water on Mars, they would find it straightaway, even label it water damaged]
Printer - stopped printing after 2 years
TV stopped working after 2 years
Fridge Freezer this is the dreaded RSH1 model, had problems about a year after purchase, typical getting warm and noisy, they sent an engineer who changed just the sensor, [he tole me it was the sensor which was defective and he was doing nothing else] started working later but couple of years later getting blocked with the dreaded ice buildup, did not want to go through the long wait calling up customer service, went and put my details online, sure enough it showed it was defective, and an engineer will come and repair it, 1 month down the line no contact, had to call the customer service center, which was answered by a philipino girl, with very poor english, she basically told you are out of warranty, its been fixed once, Samsung not interested. This has been the way Samsung has been treating customers all along.
Will never ever buy a Samsung product again.0 -
