Yes, I think it did state that, but wouldn't it be a waste of time to open another step acct if we already have one:think:
Yes, I have seen some posts where that has happened. Will just have to wait & see I guess!:)
Yeah just wait and see however from reading your orginal post you should be ok.
If they do open another step account you could use it as a bills account or something.
Youll know when the accts been opened as it will appear on your online banking.

Ok, so just received confirmation that we have been accepted for the current plus account:T
Now, it says we will receive new cards in the next few days. Visa with no cheque guarantee. Will this be the same type as the Step acct. visa? Anyone know?
I also assume there isn't an OD facility, due to lack of CGC & no mention of it in the letter, so would this allow the acct. to go OD if we accidently overspent? (not planning to, just want all the facts!)
Thanks:beer:0 -
If theres no chq garuntee it will be identical to the step one (apart from number) I scribbled on my current plus card with a marker to tell them apart!
Its not unusual for a CP to be opened with a "basic" card and no OD facility if upgrading from step. Whereas if you went OD on the step you would not be charged, on the CP you will be - so be careful :eek:Proud of who, and what, I am. :female::male::cool:0 -
The only way I could ever go overdrawn on my Step acct was if i had a bounced DD. The Visa card with the Step wouldn't allow me to spend money that wasn't in the bank. Is this the same with the Current + card too? Is it only the servicecards that allow that? Sorry for all Q's but I don't want to incur any unnecessary charges

I am an existing Step account holder (have had defaults in the past), and have just applied online for the Current Plus.
Agreed In Principle - couldn't believe it!!
It said that I would receive my chequebook and card in the post in the next 28 days after signing the consent form.
Apparently this also means I've passed the credit check!
No overdraft and probably no cheque card, but I am not really bothered about that, at least now I have a 'normal' account and can build up an internal score.
I am honestly surprised, considering I had a default on a NatWest account two years ago. Maybe they think they will make a load out of me on overdraft charges :rotfl:DEBT OUTSTANDING [14.01.12]: £6,900 / £21,725 (REPAID 68%)0 -

My thoughts exactly. Not bothered about overdraft & certainly not the lack of cheque guarantee, do everything online so either use debit card or paypal. It will just be nice to have a 'chance' to be offered things in the future should we need them. I am going to transfer EVERYTHING to this account when I have the cards & hopefully be able to run it without any problem!:j0 -
Ok so everything except online banking details are through, one problem is that all my husbands stuff has come through with his middle name as his last name  - I have rang them to let them know & they said that is how it was entered on the application:think:!!!! I am sure I wouldn't have done that, but anyway I gave them our other acct details & they could see he was who I said & the woman said she would change the name, link all the accts & send out new card & cheque book. I forgot to ask that if she links the accounts, will this mean it will be accessable from our current internet banking? It isn't on there as of now? If so how long does this take?
Thanks0 -

I have a step account with the new 'visa' debit card which replaced Solo (used to have solo on this account). It is blue with no cheque guarantee facility.
I also have a Current Plus account which had a full function Maestro Card 'Servicecard 100 and cheque guarantee. I have just received a Visa Debit replacement. The new Visa Debit is identical to the Step Account 'blue' card except it is purple, has no cheque guarantee facility, but says 'Servicecard 100' and is a full use debit card.
The blue cards are Full Authorisation with no offline transactions allowed. The purple ones are full use in that they allow offline transactions as well.
You can get the basic blue ones issued on Current Plus accounts.0 -

We've just got the blue one. So full auth like I had before. Got a chequebook now though so I COULD send a cheque to someone if I ever needed to which is a plus. Maybe after a while of running the account they would look to change it, but it's good enough for now.:D0 -
Have now received the signature forms in the post, and have signed and posted them off. Interestingly, it asks for bank statements to show proof of income -- is this normal I wonder?
And does this now mean I have been accepted? Man in branch didn't seem sure when I asked him, and am a bit paranoid about things like this since I have been rejected for pretty much everything up to now, and my credit report has not got any better since [well, it has, but the changes are yet to be applied to my credit file].
Anyway, I guess I'll find out when I receive the standard rejection letter in a few days.DEBT OUTSTANDING [14.01.12]: £6,900 / £21,725 (REPAID 68%)0
