Natwest Current Plus

Ok, so we have had a Step account with Natwest for about 9 years, haven't had any charges with them for about 3 yrs, but credit rating leaves a lot to be desired:embarasse My wages currently get paid into my Lloyds TSB account, but tax credits, child benefit etc go into the Natwest acct. on a weekly basis.
Applied for a current plus account the other day & was agreed 'in principle' once completed online. The forms have come through this morning to sign & return. We don't have to provide any documents as we already have the step acct. I imagine.
My question is what are peoples experiences of being accepted or declined at this stage, & how long before they let you know?
If accepted I will move my Salary over to this acct as I want everything paid into the same bank.
Thanks

I applied for mine online several months ago and was accepted no problem.
I was transferring from the Halifax and they sent me forms to sign and didn't ask for any further paperwork regarding proof of ID.
I think the paperwork contained details of the new account aswell.
The whole thing was relatively stress free and even the switching service worked well. I was a bit worried about that as i have heard lots of horror stories but it was great.
If you are already with them i can't see there being any problems at this stage.(c) Broke in Yorkshire. ( there are worse places )
Those that matter don't mind and those that mind don't matter!0 -

Go into the branch and they will open the account for your on the day, I went into the branch after I received the paperwork and they opened the account for me on the day and gave me account details.
Very happy with service so far!0 -
I have been with natwest for 7 years this august and I have never had a problem with them yet.
However, you never know...Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

I would, but it is my husband who is now the main applicant & I am the joint applicant. My husband works during opening hours, so I have just sent the form back in the post (recorded delivery may I add - just in case!:rotfl:)
The step account was originally my account, but when we made it a joint account, they made him the main account holder for some reason:think: They said we would have to go in & open another account etc to sort it out, but hey ho that's another matter :rotfl:
Thanks for all the replies though! Will just have to sit tight & wait now I guess:)0 -
Just signed up for a free 30 day trial of Equifax & they checked my file yesterday, so that was after the forms went out. Mmmm....0

You've got further than me. Had step accounts for 3 years and any time I apply to up it to current plus it offers me another step account0

Yes, I found that strange - I ran through the application online as a current online banking customer, but for some reason all the fields were blank (whereas they are normally pre-filled for you as a current customer) completed the form & got a 'yes in principle', forms sent etc.
Ran through it again yesterday & all the fields were pre-filled, got to the end & only had the step / cash acct options???
I can only think that there was an error somewhere & hopefully it allows it to go through.
I do have a 'proper' account with Lloyds now though too & they will be able to see that I have run it without any charges etc so hopefully that will go in my favour.0 -
We've just tried here. OH got same as you and would appear to be approved. Joint and my application offered step only
Normally its me that passes credit checks but my OH is catching up having been approved for a 3 sim only contract other week and now possibly current plus from natwest0 -
If you've got the sig forms you are fine. If you were going to be rejected it would be before the form is sent.

The account opening team (who are the guys who recieve the form you send back) dont do credit checks and only go off the paperwork provided. Account opening is done in India, with an Exceptions/contact team in SouthamptonProud of who, and what, I am. :female::male::cool:0
