  • that is a really cool idea, wonder if there is a way we could make one !!!! thinking thinking thinking
does anybody know a good website to buy scrap booking supplies?

I got a mother's day gift early at the weekend, it was a personalised notebook with my name on the front design, the online store "funky pigeon" sells them. I almost don't want to use it lol

I am resenting doing anything for mothers day I lost my own mum last August as the result of a horrific accident so this years hers will have to be suitable for a grave instead of her garden! For MIL and step mother I got some wheelbarrow planters from halfcost 4.99 each but really expensive delivery if you are only getting one it wouldnt be worth it, my son has got 2 as well ( for his girlfriends side of the family not me lol) so with del they work out to be around 5.40 each ( discount voucher floating about)
We got a tray of primulas and a tray of pansies and have split them up each planter has 4 pansies and 3 primroses they are sitting in my greenhouse getting established just got to attach the happy mothers day ribbon at the last minute before they go from here they look quite cute and are just a bit different to a normal pot!
if only my kids put in so much effort for me!
  • Limara, i understand what you are saying about mothers day - my mum passed away 13 years ago and each mothers day i find difficult.
Thanks for the ideas about the wheelbarrow planters - think i will try one for my MIL. A really lovely idea. Think Wilkinsons have got some nice (and cheap)plants in at the moment too.
  • what about a lovely Yankee candle, shade and plate, my kids bought me one last year and i was thrilled with them

I have put this on the Crafting for Christmas thread but in case you missed it and are looking for a nice homemade idea, I have made a Cake Plate Stand that you can put your own cake or cupcakes on:

All it is, is a plate (from a charity shop £1.50) and a glass candlestick (also from a charity shop £3.50) joined together with very strong glue such as Araldite. You could add your homemade cakes and wrap it with cellophane and voila!

Further details are on my blog.

The original idea was found on another blog. On there they suggested you paint a brass candlestick but if you get a glass one you won't need to paint it.

Has anyone got any inexpensive ideas of what we as a family can do for mothers day - am celebrating it on the 20th as my mum is away on mothers day. Cant find any cheapish shows to go to watch and cant think of what else to do besides going to the cinema.
