Karenrel - you should have a bit of a look on the sewing thread there are lots of brilliant people on there who are all generous with their experience and time to help answer questions, I have found it a great help to me. - some good Mothers Day ideas on there too (if you can sew that is :) )

Anyway for her birthday I am getting her the Dear Mum, from you to me book with this poem attached:
A book to create some history
For you to complete and pass back to me
There are questions I know the answers to
and some I would love to hear from you.

    Hi There

I have not recieved the book yet however yes the concept is each page or so has a question which the recipient can fill in and then when the time is right they give it back to you.

Once it arrives I will update here with some of the questions it asks.

Ask on the card making thread and you will get the answer I'm sure. There have been previous threads about this in the past, they were to do with journal jars.

Decided that instead of making a gift for MIL I am going to buy her the Cath Kitson book "Sew" so that she can make her own gifts for occasions.

Hmmm...I was looking at this thread for ideas to make with my niece and nephew for my sister (she's a single mum), but when I saw the above I ordered it for myself. It's been on my wishlist for ages :) Thanks Kaz!

  • Hello

As promised here are examples of the questions, it also has a nice little bit at the very beginning which says:

Here os a gift from me to you.... for you to give to me.

When we are children we are always asking questons......well now I have some more for you.

Please can you answer them in the way only you know howand then give the book back to me.

There might be a couple of questions you prefer not to answer, so dont worry just answer the others as best as you can.... I wont mind.

People say that we have at least one book in us, and this will be one of yours.

The story of you and me that i will treasure forever.

    Thank you.

And some of the examples of he questions are:
Tell me about the time and place you were born....
    What are your earliest memories......
What were your favourite hobbies when you were a child....
What are the first word/s you remember me saying......
Describe what you like about me.....
What are a few of your favourite things......
Describe somethig you still want to achieve in your life....
What piece of advise would you like to give to me....

Its an A5 size hardback book and I think its gorgeous!

Hope that has anwered some of your questions about this book.

Thank you for taking the time to reply. I'm going to get my mum and MIL one as well as my grandad. Think it is a great idea. I wish we had sone something like this with my granny, she had so many stories.

    Thank you again Sarah :)
