Let's take your outraged points 1 by 1 shall we......

    1. any "newbie" on this site is a liar ? AND

Please point out where I have called you a liar.

    2. Nobody is allowed to say anything postitive ?

Have a look at the 100,000's of other posts on this site and you will see loads of positive comments, My personal favouite is recomending Aldi over Tescos, Sainsburys etc.

    3. This forum is only for complaining and moaning ?

Again, have a look at the forum, you are in the competitions forum where people 'win' real prizes (I've been to barcelona & won a LCD tV amongst other things so far). This thread is about competitions scams.

    4. ANY holiday scheme is a "terrible deal" ?

    Yes, that's Martin's advice.

    5. Any body who buys into a holiday scheme has no right to enjoy it and tell people about it?

Where have I said that? But if you come on here expecting to have your promotional ploy left unassailed, you really haven't a clue what this site is about (the clue is in the title - moneysaving, not moneywasting)

    6. Anybody who has a different opinion to you is wrong? ignorant? VIRAL???

No, Bobproperty often puts me in my place but then you haven't spent very long looking around the site have you? & you are a viral marketeer.

    7. You will deny others the right to spend their money how they see fit even if, in your opinion, it is a waste of money?

I'm all for personal freedom, but that freedom should be informed, and the suggestion that these schemes should be free to fleece people or coax them into trying it out is laughable.

    AND,

    8. only people like you who have posted here before are to be believed?

No, there's many people who've been members here for years that are not to be believed, just as newbies promoting the benefits of a Holiday Scheme that's been debunked time after time are not to be belived.

MARTIN LEWIS ROCKS! He exposes scams and champions the cheated.

He would say exactly what I have said- examine all things FOR YOURSELF. TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR ACTIONS, and, if it seems to good to be true, then it usually is. GET INFORMED, then and only then, make YOUR choice.

No, as previously advised Martin says:

"DO NOT TOUCH ANY OF THEM WITH A BARGEPOLE!"

What I say is don't waste your time investigating it, or trying it out as you are helping to keep it going (by covering their fixed overheads) until they find another gullible person to buy into it.

If you have really committed £50,000 of your future income into this company, I perhaps could understand why you might want to convince yourself that you have a bargain (I mean who wants to look a fool?). If you're not a viral marketeer, your mistake is trying to convince people to go and have a look for themselves to try and make you feel better about your own poor investmnet. No doubt the south sea investors had a similar thought before they lost all their money as well.

  • I received one of these letters this morning, got a bit excited then thought i would check on here first before ringing the number.
Glad I did. This letter is going straight in the shredder. thanks for all the comments guys.
    Nothing to declare ;)
  • Well, I am not a "plant" even though I'm a "newbie" poster. I came looking on this forum for the very reason that I got the prize from Club Seasons and took up the offer - having to pay a reduced first year maintenance fee of £150. They reduced it to this because I wasn't going to take the prize and they offered as a "gesture of goodwill" to cut this year's admin fee even more. So, I was persuaded, as they allowed me to add another name to the membership card, I went ahead.

I added my sister as a joint member and she and her family are now in Portugal enjoying a great holiday - £180 for accommodation for the 4 of them is, for this year, a good deal.

However, the reason I came looking for the advice and feel I should post my experience, is that she has now been told the full club seasons story - i.e. that after this year, our prize membership really entitles us to very little - offpeak or last minute holidays in limited resorts. But they have offered her an upgrade holiday scheme which is the bargain price (if she takes it now) of £10,000! (YIKES) Unfortunately, because she's out in the sun enjoying herself, she's thinking of taking up the offer and rang me from Portugal to ask me what I thought.

There's no way I want to follow this upgrade offer so thought I'd look for comments here to see what other's thought in order to have some feedback to give her. Yes, as a family of 4, if she got the resort she wanted at the time she wanted every year for the next 20 years, this offer might pay for itself, but I'm not sure that it's worth the risk.

So, if you win the "prize" and have a group that you can take away, why not take up the 1st year's offer - but be warned, there is more to this than first meets the eye, so think long and hard before you get sucked into upgrading to anything more or even into renewing your basic membership for another year.

Hi Claireforth, welcome to MSE, hope you enjoy it here and save loads of money. Don't worry about being a newbie, everyone starts somewhere, its just without any history you have no reputation with which to be judged against.

I'm really sorry you & your sister took up their offer. Your sister experience illustrates why no one should ever take up their offer. Even at £180 its probably more expensive then hiring direct with an owner via the internet. But being in the resort, on holiday, feeling good about herself & perhaps a little guilty about the alleged low price holiday, provides a perfect target for their salesmen. let your sister know the cost isn't £10k, probably more like over £100k (see other threads for a calculation) once all the annual fees and other costs are included. That's why I always advise people never to take up the offer, its just helping them cover their overheads & provide them with susceptible targets.

Just tell her to say no, or tell her to cut up her credit cards so she can't make any purchase out there.

  • WELL SURPRISE, SURPRISE!

I received my letter this morning from clubseasons informing me I had won £3750 (rather an odd amount I thought - not the usual £5000, £10000 or £1000000).

So thinking you never get something for nothing and that I also never entered an internet competition. I was of course rather sceptical, done a google search and ended up on this very interesting thread.

I've read all the comments and have decided to throw the letter in the bin(where it belongs).

My decision is based on the fact that I do not like the idea of paying money towards a prize I have supposedly won. But my main concern is how clubseasons can finance to pay a £3750 prize (it appears) to the whole population of the UK!!!!
Who in the UK has not received this wonderful PRIZE letter???

I also received a letter this morning. Seems like a bit of a commitment. Dont know if I can go on hioliday every year. Didnt go this year. So what happens if you cantgo one year?
  • They probably don't care whether you go or not, just as long as you pay your fees each year!! or they'll send the boyz round....
  • :hello:

Hello! Newbie here! Just wanted to say ... yup - we got the letter too! However, I do remember entering the competition for it and realising that it was probably a timeshare. However - we have had an offpeak timeshare on the Isle of Arran for years now, so wasn't phased, even when the letter came through. And as a family we have been holidaying a timeshares places for decades, which is why we ended up buying one ourselves!

We came on here last night to do a search, but the forum was down, so my hubby did a search on the company and on the places we'd have the option of going to. I have to say, we are still undecided  but I'll get hubby to have a look through all 9 pages of posts here later! :rotfl:

Hi! As a newbie I really am finding my feet here! I wondered if you knew where abouts on the Main Site this information is?

And does this mean that ALL timeshare is a daft investment? We have holidayed at our one for years as our own timeshare, and decades previously with family. The years we can't go we ask the organisation to sell it - this year my parents received over £800 for selling their April week. And we also have the option of swapping our week for a week abroad, though haven't ventured into that yet!

Many thanks in advance for your help! :xmassmile

£168.50 for 4 people for 7 nights. Now that IS a good offer - just £42 per person per week. We shall therefore be booking Clowance in Cornwall, where we have stayed before and can recommend it. Perhaps it's not one vast big con, then? Moral of this story: Don't reply straight away but wait for them to reduce the management fee!

When I phoned Emma (surprisingly no Carol lol) she told me that the first year's maintenance would be reduced anyway, but I'm waiting for the more info I requested before we decide.
