Yes, but had we not bothered (and thanks to this thread) she would have walked away with an easy £625 and a fresh new flat... this way, next time she will hopefully think very carefully before skinning the tenant.

Do you still live nearby? I would pass the link to this thread to the new tenants to warn them off what is going to happen when they leave. That way they may follow you in stopping the LL ripping them off. It would give me personal satisfaction to help them out just to see the LL face when I turned up at court with them.

Thanks guys - a stress free life now, sort of with other stuff going on and more business than I can handle! One client want me to work full time for them, ah the temptation of a 9-5 job! However, self-employed I am earning a lot more, so will prob resist...

We won on 31 May as I recall, what a day that was - thanks to all here and hopefully this thread will inspire others to fight too...

  • My goodness...am only on page 26 but determined to plough through the rest of the thread...I wanted to know what happened at the end though as I suspect I shall be having ex-landlord issues in the next few weeks (but probably should start a new thread). Have to applaud your staying power EL..well done you and as for everyone who has helped and advised you through all this...fantastic!
  • Well, I've finally reached the end.

EL, Many congrats, although you didn't get all your deposit back, it cost the stupid Evil LL a lot more therefore a pleasing result. Good for you!

Now I suppose I'd better get to bed and get an early start on the morning on the housework...could have sworn I had a husband, son and 2 dogs when I sat down to read this this afternoon?!?!?!?

    Well done again EL

He he - thanks MrsPhilips - I know the feeling! Poor Mr EL would be in bed long before me, I did so much research and PM's to people as well as this thread that that 12 month period was stress-busting! Hope you don't encounter the same kind of landlord, hopefully the new deposit scheme will put them off x

  • Wow, that was some read!

Felt like I had to post something after going throgh reading all 89 pages! Congrats El, the moral victory is no doubt bigger than the financial one you received but it's very good to read and see the outcome of all of your hard work.

    :)
