Congratulations EL and Mr EL. Came back from the pub at midnight last night and logged on to find out what happen - just to find out that Martin had shut the site down for maintenance work. Martin - why oh why did you choose yesterday of all days!

Sorry, but not true. Only if she fails to pay the order within one month.

On the court services website it says:

If you pay the full amount you owe within one month of the judgment date, you can ask the court to take your name off the Register.

You will have to pay a small fee and show the court proof that you have paid the full amount (for example, a letter from the claimant saying that you have paid). The court will be able to explain the proof that you need.

The court will cancel your entry on the Register, and will give you a certificate to prove that you paid the debt within one month.

    http://www.hmcourts-service.gov.uk/infoabout/judgment/payment/register.htm

Surely the judge has to enter the judgement in the register, even if the defendant writes a cheque in front of them; to allow for the possibility that the cheque will bounce or be cancelled? And furthermore, as the defendant is required to pay a fee for having the judgement removed from the register, it's required to be entered on the register in the first place?

I was disappointed with the amount you recovered but now that you put it like that this is a fantastic victory.

All you need to do now is tip of HMRC (If you haven't already) but not just about the evil LL but about her decoraters earning money and not declaring it. You have a written receipt after all!!!!!

    Well done

Oi that was my idea months ago.... and she did :D

    Well done you:T
I am so glad that she is £240 odd out of pocket for seeing your deposit as extra money for herself, let alone the aggravation she has been put to. No wonder the law on deposits has been tightened up.

I have been following your thread for ages but never posted as I had no knowledge to share. I did think positive thoughts for you yesterday afternoon though. I hope you can have a relaxing weekend and then continue to move on with your self employment and so on, but fear that you may have this churning in your head for a few days to come. Hopefully she will be rueing it a lot longer, though.

Congratulations to you both  sounds like you had a great evening on the Evill LL's money :D

Was a bit disappointed with the overall amount you were awarded, i have to say, but the news that Evil LL has been put seriously out of pocket with this is almost as good ;)

Thank goodness it's all over. well done for hanging in there when many of us would have given up. Inspirational

Now that this extraordinary story has come to a reasonably satisfactory end, and the thread has been viewed nearly one hundred and fifteen thousand times, serious plans for a book should be made. Mind you, at times it was so exciting that it could have been a film.

So well done EL, and thank you for standing up for all of us. And just think: if everyone who viewed this ended up buying the book, and if your share of each book sale was a pound, then you would own your next home rather than renting it.

Have pm'd Martin so maybe you'll get a mention in next weeks email. Just so everyone is aware of what a fantastic victory it was. Slightly disappointed by the amount you were awarded but when you said how much she'd paid to keep the money it made me feel better. Let's hope she won't be trying that one on again anytime soon. Don't mess with EL!!

Maybe you could post your tips for renting in a seperate thread so people can find them without having to trawl through the whole thing. Perhaps someone could make it a sticky- I think it would be really helpful.
