EL - just to help your resolve, - you may recall that a while back i told you that you had inspired me to sue someone, well, i put in the papers to the court on 17th January, and i have received their defence papers today 5th February. This is how civilised decent people behave in a dispute.

Skunks like your landlady treat other people with such disrespect - and think they can get away with it - your resolve has shown the rest of us that we need not lie down and give up - just because something appears difficult.

May i suggest a wee word of warning re her defence - this is a world wide public forum - we do not know who is reading this and then not posting - i don't think it will be a fabulous idea if you quote word for word from her defence, as i dont know if "sub judice" (and all that) might apply to the County Court or not, and she is slippery enough to use this forum against you if she has heard of it.

all the best - stay calm when you read it, she is going to paint you in a very black way - be prepared and don't let her words hurt - they are only words - we know your worth and value to this world - even if she doesn't !!
    hugs and xxxx

She doesn't even have to be a member of this forum. She can google EL's user name, if she knows it, and see all her posts because it goes through usaweb or something like that.

And then she has to prove it is her and not some third malicious party pretending to be her, christ the courts can't even get the cow to admit to her real address, you think they'll get the FBI out tracking down service providers :rotfl:

    Hi Bear,
Since you quoted me - I was just making a general statement because a lot of people put their private details on many forums and tend to use the same username. Wasn't really referring to EL'S case in particular. But I know what you are saying.

Once you have the username from whatever source, you can quickly find almost every post they have ever written to a public forum by using Google. It is amazing how much knowledge you can gain about a person, especially those who do genealogy.

Almost forgot, even if you delete your message on an open forum, it still stays in Google. Unfortunately, can't get rid of it.

It only stays in google's cache until they update it, which for MSE seems to be every 1-2 weeks. There are of course sites that archive web content permanently, however.

Thanks for that. Bit more comforting.

    Hi all,

The proverbial has arrived - I got home at 19:30 last night from work and MR EL's look told me it had arrived.

He had opened it and it contains photos, additional solicitors costs and plus chasing for that 'extra' that we supposedly owed over and above our deposit. Makes for scary reading, which I am sure is the intention, particularly with the solicitors on board.

    £546.12 is her counterclaim amount.

I have read through it and most aspects of the checkout inventory relate to cleaning, with some items relating to scuffs etc, carpet 'damage' and the radiator mark.

They have included the original comments from our check-in inventory, luckily we were very thorough.

The only recommendations from the letting agent on check-out to her was that she should charge for cleaning (we would have ok'd this anyway) and half the carpet, which we feel is totally unfair as it was already very old.

We now presumably have to put together our paperwork, OR give up and forget about it.

Did not sleep a wink and have to get to work in 15 mins.
