Hmm - hard to know until we get paperwork. Although, on her last form she had said something like "costs £695 = counterclaim".MFW #185

Remember the MoneySaving mantras!
IF YOU'RE SKINT......
Do I need it? Can I afford it? Can I find it cheaper anywhere else?
IF YOU'RE NOT SKINT......
Will I use it? Is it worth it? Can I find it cheaper anywhere else?0 -
Hiya Irishwench69 - nothing from courts yet but we expect the paperwork to come through next week, then we will see what's next.
Took a look at a place today but much too small, I really wish our current landlord hadn't put us in this situation as we've enough on our plate with the court case and also me trying to secure one more client (have 2 at the mo, just need one more to feel 'on the level').MFW #185

EL... Spent goodness knows how many hours reading this unfold... hope everything works out.
Really admire you for sticking with it after all this time and hassle, know I would have given up on week one so very well done. I guess that goes to all these excellent posters too!0 -
Thanks jih2000 and rallymad - I suppose we will know whether it has all been worth it within around 6 weeks - right now i just want it to be over, woke up thinking about it and mentally bullet-pointing our defence. Not what I want to do on the only day that Mr EL and I get to sleep in together (he works Mon-Fri and Sat mornings)!MFW #185

Have read almost every posting, until my eyes were rolling in their sockets. This is a fantastic case because so many people will be inspired by it.
I found this thread because friends had been fobbed off with excuses for six months. After a few calls this January there was a sudden payment! I wonder how many landlords and agents are following your story and I wonder if the judge knows that thousands of people are on your side and watching like hawks!
Am about to start on another disputed deposit case and am hearing about others, so thank you for being feisty enough to do this!
GOOD LUCK0 -
If EL is feeling the pressure, as no doubt she must be by now, "want it to be all over" - maybe we could all be a little more patient and wait for her to up-date us - as she always will when she has a minute. I know we are all DYING to know the latest, but, let's not put her under any unnecessary presssure ??
like the rest of us , she does have a life outside of the dark dastardly dame's antics !!!!!0 -
Thanks Auntie C - it's not so bad really, it will be when we get the 'package' of paperwork she has supposedly submitted though...
ARLA have written to us today and said that the letting agent have responded to ARLA about our complaint and it has all been passed to the Dispute section, and should take max 60 days to investigate, that we may get contacted by them if they need any further details.
At least that is being dealt with by an independent party.
Still nothing from the court re landlady's defence.MFW #185

I'm thinking they will hit our doormat tomorrow or Weds - 'interesting' will be the word of the day indeed, given that we don't see how she could possibly justify her deductions - then there's also her letter of 11th September offering to negotiate... will update as soon as I have any news.MFW #185
