We have suspected that dungaree-wearing may come in to it. Or, giving the benefit of the doubt, close sisterly love.
But given that the LL 'lives in Devon', must be hard keeping a long distance relationship like that goingWhatever nature is may be :rotfl:

yes, am avid reader of cornwell!! have read every single book shes written!! even the two not in the scarpetta series!!
i'm now on Tess Gerritsen, she's good too, though she writes about more than just an ME as the lead role, which is v.interesting!! and there is also Sue Grafton, for crime writing, shes good too,
and i think the new one by Eager Learner about a landlady that gets mobbed by a load of people on a website is a good one, one not to be missed!! and its based quite closely on fact, they hang her and her "decorator" from the trees outside the courtroom by the straps of their dungarees whilst they are still in them!! they dont die but get a bit humiliated and get a serious case of "camel foot" at the end of the story they pay up, she sells up and they both scurry off and get jobs in a store such as homebase or B&Q(no disrespect intended to such stores) where they can live in Decorators heaven. But get bugged all day by people asking for paint swatches, and the price of rat traps etc........
no offence to anyone is intended by the above message!!but it would be good to see them get what they deserve, not by any means of violence, just the sheer shame of what they have done!seriously, i think the tabloids would be interested in this one!! never mind the local rag!! its got such a HUGE following!!0 -
Thanks Scarpetta - who knows, we may be able to get some sort of coverage but I doubt it - I e-mailed the Argus and had no response, maybe it's because we haven't finalised the court process yet, I don't know.
I'm also onto Tess Gerritsen (finished The Surgeon 1 week ago). Not to take the thread off topic, PM me if you want to discuss more!MFW #185

Wow! Epic tale, and horrible to hear that you still haven't had it resolved.
Just want to (a) wish you luck and (b) make a couple of suggestions.
Firstly I hope you are remembering to amend your claim to include the extra 4 months interest that she owes you due to you not getting the money in September.
Secondly, don't be disheartened about the whole judge allowing c/o address thing; the way I read it (and I am not even close to a lawyer) what the judge has done is ruled that anything related to the case can and should be served on her at that address. Thus if (or rather when as I can't see she has a leg to stand on) she gets the judgement against her, you can send the bailiffs round there, with the Judge's blessing.
If she then tries it on again by claiming that she is not there or not contactable there, then she has lied to a judge in a legal hearing to sway his verdict in her favour - which sounds a lot like "perjury" and "perverting the course of justice" to me, so then just call the Police.
I'd also suggest sending a letter to "The Occupier" of each of the properties that you know she lets out, to inform them of just whom they are dealing with, and to advise them to make doubly sure that they don't get caught in the same trap.
Anyway, good luck to you and don't let the [Expletive Deleted]s grind you down0 -
Argh!! Where's the ending?!
I've just spent the last 26 hours (between school runs, meals etc) reading every post on this thread, only to find it's not finished  It's like reading a library copy of War and Peace to find someone's ripped out the last page
Good luck EagerLearner - and well done for sticking at it all this time
And, whilst I hope my landlord never tries a similar trick, it's nice to know there are so many knowledgeable people out there who might be able to help
Will watch carefully to find out the endingDFW Nerd no. 884 - Proud to [strike]be dealing with[/strike] have dealt with my debts0 -
Phew what a monster! I mean the length of the post and the LL.
Have just spent the last 2 days reading all 58 pages. What a saga.
My heart and best wishes go out to you Eager Leaner and I would add that you have some perserverance. A lesser mortal would have given up by now.
I just wish this was the movie version, so I could fast forward to the happy ending. Seeing you and Mr EL walking happily into the sunset clutching a big wad of pound notes and a bottle of champers.
Keep on trucking0 -
Blimey... Just read this all the way through (well it is Friday afternoon...) and the range of emotions I went through!
I'm generally a lurker rather than a poster, but just wanted to say "all the best" EagerLearner, and well done for persevering. To misquote a famous phrase:"all it takes for evil (landlords) to succeed is for good (tenants) to do nothing."
Very much rooting for you for your next court appearance. I suspect the judge will take a dim view of all this woman's shenanigans - my uncle is a judge and, based on his experience of landlords who imagine they can do as they please, will find in favour of the tenant unless there's overwhelming evidence that they are at fault.
So hang in there! Look forward to your next update.
