  • Golden Virginia is well over £10, probably nearer £11 for 50gm in the UK - so you got a bargain.
I'd love to know where bri365 got 250gm for £11 from??

Everyone needs to check their airline out too as quite often the prices on board are cheaper than the dutyfree prices at either end. The charters often sell 2 litres of varied spirits for £15 or less. Tobacco is often £3 a pouch if you buy 10. Ciggies I think around 400 for £30. Check out the airline duty free prices online - unfortunately not all airlines post their prices!

Turkey - you can buy dutyfree the other side at your landing airport. However there is often little saving on our duty free prices - but it saves having to carry onto the plane etc. DON'T buy (or be very careful of buying) UK tobacco & ciggies in shops in Turkey as 90 times out of 100 they are fake & unsmokeable. Then again some Turkish ciggies are very good at £1 a packet.

I've found that in Holland the prices are on the ciggarette packets. Its the same price wether you buy one packet or a carton. However, if you buy in shops they invariably give you a free lighter for every carton that you buy.

One thing that I have noticed is that I cannot find English brands in some shops, but the Airports are geared up for us. If purchasing in duty free once you have checked in you also don't need to worry about baggage restrictions.

B+H GOLD WERE E41 FOR 200. I put 400 in my debit card and was charged just under £57. Thats about the UK retail price for one carton.

Airport Duty Free for cameras - What a rip off!!!

Go to dixonstaxfree.co.uk and compare prices of the same cameras with kelkoo and you can buy cheaper on line before you travel. (outside EEC)

    Rip off Britain strikes again.

Must say I forgot my camera on my last holiday so bought another at Dixons on the way out. Broke my heart!!

    Never again.

My mate shopped recently in Germany and bought a camera much cheaper at a superstore (German) tax paid.

    Hi guys,

I'm going of holiday on Sunday and I'll be stopping off in Dubai on the way back and wanted to know if they had any restrictions with their duty free?

I was thinking of buying some booze on the way back but have read a few posts where people have not been allowed to take their purchases on the plane when boarding.

I don't want to send money on stuff if I'm going to have to ditch it so any advice would be great. I'm going to Kuala Lumpur so would it be cheaper to buy it there instead or sall I stick to Dubai?

Also, do you know what Emirates restrictions are about taking liquids onto their planes? Is it still 100ml or less and in a see-through bag?

    Thanks!

    Bump.

Anyody???? Someone must have flown with Emirates via Dubai.
  • For people flying to the alps: germany, france or italy: it might be worth your wile to fly to a swiss airport near the border. Geneva is good for french ski resorts. Switzerland is not an EU member state (they're quite clever that way) hence you get the full on duty free prices...
I usually stock up on Kahlua: usually you can only get a small bottle for £16 in any uk store you're lucky enough to find it in. In duty free you get large for about £10 in swiss francs. I usually get some on the way out and put in in my luggage so I can get more on the return.

    Mmmmmmmmm... white russians.... so tasty

Anyone got any tips or hints on US Duty free shopping with the current market how it is???

I am off to Mexico in 2 weeks time with a 3 and a half hour delay at Miami. Obviously I cant buy cigarettes or booze until I get there and am happy to do so but is there anything else I should think about getting while I am there?
