Err.. the second sowing (same as first) is just up and they are:
Hot Peppers
Wenk's Yellow Hots
Hot Aji Lemon Drop Citrus
and some old seed from Simpsons:
Ozoroco (warm)
Hungarian Hot Wax
Friar's Hat
Sweet Peppers
Kaibi Round No 2
Orange Bell
Germination, even the Aji and the 4 year old Simpson's seeds, seems pretty good.
I've just found an outlet, so I'll probably sow some different chillies & sweet peppers to sell as small plants in late spring.:)
However, I'm far more excited about the brilliant germination I've had with seed from a new, hardy Gerbera which I picked up at a plant fair last year!0 -

Let me know how you get on with the Wenk's - I liked the look of those. I've had no joy in previous years with chillies, so I'm hoping for much better results this year.
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -

Will do, though in the words of someone far braver than me, 'I may be some time.' I suppose it will be August/September before I know if they are any good.0 -
Hi all, I'm after a bit of advice please if anyone knows the answer. Sorry if this is a silly question...
I planted my pepper and chilli seeds a few weeks ago and I now have some nice healthy looking little seedlings about half an inch high on our bedroom windowsill. Is it too early and/or too cold to transfer these to my unheated greenhouse now?
I want to clear some space on the windowsill ready for the next batch of seeds!
Thanks.0 -

First year for me but my babies aren't going anywhere near an unheated greenhouse at the moment....;)
Make the space, leave them be in a warm, light room.0 -
I got my seeds from the South Devon CHilli farm - great variety.
I planted a poblano and a few prarie fires just after Christmas - they are going great guns now! They come into the house overnight but during the day are down in the greenhouse - I've had to open the vent as the max/min thermometer was hitting the 30s! I also sowed a variety a week or two ago, but the first lot were very slow to germinate so I'm not worried yet about them.0 -
Thanks for your help! My greenhouse is on the allotment so it's not very easy for me to put them out during the day and bring them in at night. I think I'll have to try and make room on the bedroom windowsill for now then as I have quite a few things I want to get started off. My wife isn't going to be pleased!0

I sowed my chillis and peppers last weekend and most of them have come up already! They are on a coffee table in the front room as none of my window sills are big enough for even a little tray

I managed to get a little mini propagator in Mr T's for 74p including little peat pots and 3 different varieties of toms. I bought all they had (3) and have done one of toms and the other of chillis and peppers. How big do the chillis etc have to be to pot on?
Thank you0 -
Is it too late to bother with sweet peppers (I'm assuming that means capsicum)?? We have a very sunny window sill and an unheated greenhouse that gets great sun (when it makes an appearance), I was going to try them for the first time this year but obviously just lumped them in together with all my other planting for mid March (I'm a week behind schedule as couldnt get near the garden centre last weekend due to mass Mother's Day traffic!!).0

You will be fine planting them now. It would have been better a few weeks ago, but not everyone can offer the right growing conditions in February, so a March sowing might even catch up with an earlier one.0
