Agree with Mr B E above. My peppers from Real Seeds are up and growing away without any soaking or messing about.:)
These folk also have a good range:

If anyone wants to try a selection, try these:

Their seeds are always great, and @£1.80 for 4 types and 99p for p&p for any seeds, it's got to be a bargain

Thanks very much Annie. I was going to make a special trip into town to go to Wilkinsons and get some seeds. But I have decided that 99p p&p is a very good deal, thanks for saving me the cost of petrol and parking.:beer:0 -
I will start mine next week - I don't like to start them too early as plants can go leggy if you are not careful. Growing season is almost on us and it is exciting! My leeks will go in soon too and I will sow parsnips direct down the allotment and then dig up last years crop what is left before they start sprouting! They are soooo sweet with all this frost and snow!3 kids(DS1 6 Nov, DS2 8 Feb, DS3 24 Dec) a hubby and two cats - I love to save every penny I can!

Hmmmmm.
Some advice please. I've sown my chilli's, Cayenne, Jalepeno and Hot tepin and placed in heated propagator. One lot are sown in Arthur Bowers seed compost with loam, grit etc and one lot are in Arthur Bowers mulit purpose compost, to compare best medium for germination etc. I planted seed only four days ago and despite watering daily (from the top) with a spray gun, the seed compost dries out terribly, it was almost solid today so i'm not holding out much hope for those seeds. Should i be watering twice daily, and also, from the top or in a tray from the bottom? I'm spraying enough to make compost damp without over doing it.0 -
Okay so amazingly, some of my chilli's have germinated and are about an inch tall with a couple of seed leaves. Some are still pushing up through the compost though. Should i be pricking out those that are up and away or should i leave them be until there partners catch up? I think most people are saying take the lid off, switch heat off etc but some are still struggling to stand up....0

Probably a bit too hot!
You should be removing each little pot as soon as the seeds germinate; to grow on without the heat....if you leave them too long they won't cope when they come out.
Heated prop is really only to germinate seeds; as soon as you see signs of life, get them out!0 -
I've had my seeds in the boiler cupboard and have been watering them in the morning and at night. The Jalepenos have now sprouted and are about 3cm tall with a little pair of leaves, so I take them out during the day and put them on a sunny windowsill. My house is pretty cold at night so I put them back in the cupboard overnight.
Is there anything else I should be doing, or is this OK? At what stage should I be moving them from there little seed tray thing (which has 24 cells in each tray I think) and into their own pots?
Thanks0 -
