    nixinixi,
If you don't want to go out for beads you could get them to paint and then thread macaroni, or cut up brightly coloured straws, make beads out of air drying clay, or even rolled paper beads (see here),

Mimms maybe buy the "caramel" one if you think you are likely to have the time and resources to do it up and then sell for a profit and buy one in a colour you like and have a bit left over??

Shell06 - ribbon would be fine but depends on age of your dd and width of ribbon as to how easy she would find it to thread them.
nixinixis children are quite young so thought she would be able to make the beads and them do the threading -but older kids would quite enjoy making them I think.

Thats a good price for low mileage-mine was £3995 for high mileage but it was from a garage. If you go to look at it make sure you check the panel at the bottom of the rear windscreen (where it goes into the boot bit) notorious for rust which i found out after buying the car to find it was nearly rusted away :-/ New panel is £700!! luckily managed to get a second hand one.

Sorry to everyone we have gone really dribbly and off topic. Mimms feel free to Pm or email me if you want any info/chat/dribble!
