Hello there people, another FV customer here !
I have an IDAHO suite, a two seater and two single seaters, bought in October last year and recently the two seater started to suffer from this delamination that i have seen posted here. I called the shop and they sent out a chap to have a look and he blamed hair products for this happening (Oh i forgot to say, the damage is on the back just behind my head). My wife informs him that i do not use hair products as i am practically bald, so his next comment was that it was in fact the oils from my skin that were causing the problems.
Has anyone had any trouble with the IDAHO suite or been given the same excuse i have ? Any help would be greatly appreciated as i would like to remain calm when i speak to FV again.
Thanks.
Edit..... done some digging and its a semi aniline sofa, according to someone i spoke to an hour ago it should not delaminate like it has
We are again after some delay from them, in negotiations! I will update when we have some further progress0 -
Hi Chris you may like to know that we have had the same problem with our CLAIRE Sofa and Chair see my previous comments And of course exactly the same excuse regarding hair products and oils from skin. the sofa and chair are also semi-aniline leather.

Stick with it !
I was quite lucky that this was all here for me to read before i took any action, i went on the website and looked at all the descriptions of my sofa and compared it to the factory label that was on the underside of one of the chairs. Nowhere on it did it mention leather, it referred it as a composite, not the 'high quality leather' it described on their site (they did try telling me something different, glad i copied the web page to my laptop).
I spoke to citizens advice consumer also, my other concern is i have paid a good lot of money for goods, a replacement in covers has been sorted but what about the price we are paying for this product ? As much as we are dealing with goods not as described, the prices we are paying is for quality goods which these are not.
Surely something can be done about about this also ?0 -

After waiting a week I've eventually got to speak to the manager. They have ordered a full new 3 seat unit and will fit hopefully before christmas. Big tick on customer service, also got a really nice letter apologising. Panic over.
Hi, I know it's some time since your FV ordeal, but I'm really keen to know if you got any definitive statement that the Alexis suite was or wasn't leather or bi-cast.
If I have to get ours tested, then I will do, but was hoping that someone else has some evidence one way or the other?
Many thanks0 -
Having come across this today, i too have scala 3+2, complete with peeling leather! Emailed FV, got a call within 30 mins offering me £237 against new sofa or £200 cash. Bought them april 2006. Good offer or not??0

Hold out, push for higher, usage doesn't really apply as much here as they miss old. Push for at least 50% cash. Don't take less than they offer in store credit as there is nothing in store you can buy without muchos money being spent again...0

It is more comfortable and a far superior quality to the Scala suite that I had purchased (and been happy with, until the leather started peeling). I am surprised that there have been various degrees of success when dealing with FV as from my experience they couldn't have been more helpful.
Hope that this helps others

Noticed last week that on one on the seat pads of my replacement dark brown Dante suite (delivered march 2011) there are lots of light brown speckles and on the edge (stitching seem) it has lost the dark brown colour to reveal the same light brown colour.
Have telephoned the store but have been informed that although I've only had this replacement 18months (less time than it took to get problems on the scala suite!!) there is nothing they can do!!
I wonder if any one else have had further problems or am I just plain unlucky!!!!

I am waiting for a response regarding my peeling Alexis Sofa set, sold to me as leather. I received a prompt initial response offering me one hundred and eleven pounds compensation, based on the projected life of the sofas as SIX YEARS! I rejected this as derisory and wondered if the general customer base would buy sofas from furniture village if they knew this! I have asked for a replacement equivalent in real leather, which is what I thought I was buying. I shall keep the forum posted as it seems strange that different customers are being offered very different compensation. Please note, we paid for five years insurance and received a leather care kit to keep our 'leather' sofas in good condition...0

the key thing with Scala sofa's is they were sold with leather kitemarks on them even though they were bicast leather.
I can't comment on the alexis range as I don't know what it was advertised as.
You need to compare alexis offers with yours, not compare it to Scala refunds...0 -
Thanks Visidigi... I have the original Alexis brochure complete with the leather symbol alongside the main picture and also on the reverse side, so I shall await their response.0
