No! It does't usually bother me but reading this, I agree, a little thoughtful gift would be nice once in a while, no matter how small. I do make up for it though - I buy myself lots of surprise gifts :p

This morning I got a Valentines Card with the price sticker on the back, starting with the words "Although we've had our ups and downs" !!!!! .... I thought we'd been happily married for 10 years! He just doesn't think and always operates at 110 mph. He got a card and a home made heart shaped cake from me :A

He knows he is in the dog house slightly and can't work out why  I still love him lots though :o
  • From a guy point of view on this, I'm in a distance relationship (it's only 60 miles, so not too bad!) but it does mean we can't see each other as often as we'd like until I move her way as I intend to do down the road.

There hasn't been one occasion when we've met up that I haven't got her a present. It might be as simple as her favourite chocolate. Once she was aching from some training we'd been doing, so I hid a bottle of Radox being held by a teddy bear in her bathroom.

I think little gifts are a nice way to show someone is on your mind, even when apart. I will never stop :)

    Do something amazing. GIVE BLOOD.
  • I buy bits and pieces when I see them for OH and he does for me too. Often it is wee food treats but I often get flowers bought from Aldi (cheap and cheerful) for no reason (he loves flowers too so often says that he bought them for himself - lol)
In fact he is better with general gifts than he is with gifts for occassions - he is terrible for remembering birthdays, mothers day (I buy for his mum and his aunt who also brought him up) and christmas is often an struggle.
  • My OH doesn't often buy me little gifts cause he can. But i don't mind i don't really buy him things apart from the odd magazine. However for my birthday last year he gave me money towards my football season tickets 3 months before my birthday. However come my birthday he spent another £100 buying me an MP3 player because he knew i would like it (he did also buy himself exactly the same one at the same time!)

It really doesn't bother me at all.

    I've been Money Tipped!
It's all about how your OH knowing how you feel loved.

I don't do this for OH as it isn't the best way for him to receive my love. My OH feels most loved via touch - ie he would far rather have 10 hugs and kisses than the book he's had his eye on.

Me, I feel loved by "acts of service", so OH knows I feel most loved when he does things I wouldn't expect like unload the washing machine.

So, whilst little presents are okay and they do make the other smile, we find the freebie things a far better way of conveying our love.

Whole thing about it called "languages of love" very twee, but makes a lot of sense.

No my husband doesnt buy me little bits and bobs. If I want a bar of chocolate I have to tell him to get me one (as well as the 3 kids).

I do buy him bits and pieces, if I buy the kids some sweets I also buy him something. I just got him a CD because weve just bought a car with a cd player.

OK, it's worth a try, I'll move: he'll never get the hang of thinking of anybody else without a script, a prompter & a director yelling at him :undecided

Yes - we both do normally silly little token things that dont cost the earth but its nice to get something that imho says i was thinking about you and thought you would like this :)
Love is the answer. At least for most of the questions in my heart,
Like why are we here? And where do we go?And how come it's so hard?
It's not always easy,And sometimes life can be deceiving,
I'll tell you one thing, its always better when we're together

my OH does, he'll always pick me up a favourite choccy bar

Mine will buy me a little choccy bar... on his way home from the off licence. I'm not saying he buys me a little treat costing under a pound to try and deflect attention from him spending a tenner of our money on booze for him... but he does tend to buy me little things directly after buying big things for him. ;)
