Friend keeps looking what I am buying...

It will, however, prevent him accessing your My eBay page and watch list.zorber wrote:That will not stop him looking at what you have bought or bid on!!!0 -
You can have as many accounts as you want but they all need different email addresses and bank details.
If you merge your old id , or change your exsting id then your mate will be able to track you still as those changes will show in your history, so you do really need a whole new account.
As has been said anyone can see what you are bidding on and selling, I often check up on my competitors to see how their sales are going, and I'm quite sure they do the same to me. If and when goofbay returns in full then knowing your id will also enable casual browsers to see your turnover, last few sales and all sorts of other info as well.
If you do change ids make it entirely different to the existing one. If you are going to sell the same sort of items then also change your listing style so your mate can't spot you if he browses casually.

Don't like the sound of this friend !0
-
Umm, not sure i like the sound of this friend either. Its ok for a joke maybe one off but repeatadly!! its a no no for me.
I would do as other poster has said, and put him up for sale.
Describe him as a nosey person, ideal for spying tasks or similar and put in the description anything you want saying to him effectively.
Another option as stated above is to set up a spare account and bid on some very strange wierd stuff, confuse him a little.
Ifs its done with a little humour he may just get the message.
Time to work out if he is a friend worth keeping or not if he doesnt take notice.

Thanks very much for your replies everybody... I especially liked the oned about putting him up for sale, nelly05 your reply was funny! sell him advertised as a spy.....I like it!!
I know what to do now, regarding another account, so thanks to everybody!:beer:0 -
someone did something like that to an ex-boyfriendmad_bad_spender wrote:I'd make the joke on him by setting up some dodgy auctions on a new id and "buy" a few dodgy items. Get some other mates at it also. Or better still put HIM up for sale! Just a picture offering him for sex or the like. You'll know when he sees it. Just tell him its payback for being a nosy !!!!!!.
it must have been so embarassing.0 -
If he set up your computer, and I don't want to panic you too much, but he could have easily set up spyware on your computer to monitor your internet activity.
This could involve a keylogger, so that whatever passwords etc your typing he can see.
Just run a virus check etc to make sure there is nothing like that on your machine

Soo seems to think you can still be traced this way and I'm sure she knows better than me.My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
imo I think people need to know that much of what they do on the net is NOT private. I think people are slowly learning this the hard way, but anything you submit can easily be tracked down.
In future I suggest using a nick that doesnt link to you in anyway, you dont post any personal information, photos, or details in any public place on the net. I often search out what friends are up to, ive tapped in a few old buddies email addresses that have linked to newsgroup postings containing their IP, a search on this throws up other usernames used. Searching on these then links you into all kinds of stuff and yep before you know it you can find those personal pics uploaded to that dodge website, links to interest in jumbo dldos and a membership to a popular panties forum.
Well you would if you searched me out at least
! Seriously, understand that all this stuff can be tracked, if you really value privacy start getting familiar with tools such as privoxy and the tor network, etc. Also try doing a lot of misdirection, why not track lots of really silly things so he doesnt know which you are serious about? I tend to post lots of inaccurate information about myself so that anyone stalking me thinks theyve got lots of juicy info, but most of it is rubbish.
Most internet savvy kids are well aware of all this and know how to cover tracks, but its becoming very obvious that many are posting really personal stuff and seem suprised when others find it. Be lucky you arent in my position, got a call from father in law asking how to remove stored links from his web browser, didnt ask what he was trying to hide.
For example I know friends could link me to my MSE posts so im always careful what I write here. /me waves to any of them reading.Debt: a bloomin big mortgage
all posts are made for entertainment value only, nothing I say should be taken as making any sense and should really be ignored0
