There are easy ways to stop a program or operating system from connecting to their server.

Every time a company creates a new way to stop the illegal copies from working some clever cracker will find a solution.

I just bought windows 7 and it is very good.

I don't mind shelling out for the operating system as it is normally affordable, but when you look at other programs like Adobe CS4 master collection or autocad they are thousands of pounds and so this just encourages people to crack them.

I wouldn't mind paying for a MS product if it was the finished article but it never is!
You are paying your money for what is, essentially, a work in progress!

I've had Win 7 64 bit since November & I've just counted 12 security updates installed in 3 months... not to mention the number of Windows updates (whatever they are) installed in the same period.

This will pretty much continue throughout the lifespan of Win 7 as more vulnerabilities are discovered, as has been the case with every OS Microsoft has released.

Toyota are in deep doodoo for having to recall millions of cars yet MS "recall" their products on an almost weekly basis & nobody seems to mind!

fiddiweb, it's a 20 year old idea that Vista was supposed to ' piggy back ' into being, I never want to see it.

Cloud based, it could be the start of charging by the day as do Virgin / BT / whoever. I never want to see it, at least, I never want the GUI version to be replaced by it.
