    Well, the computer is back in the shop and I'm back on a borrowed laptop.
    They're having another look at it "under warranty" for what that's worth.

    I'll let you know how I get on. Should have it back by Thursday (apparently).

    I would have preferred to DIY it personally but that's some me...

    I'll PM you a method to check if they've actually rebuilt or cleaned it, I don't want to post here incase they're reading these forums and try to cover their tracks.
