Missus decided to induce herself by having a Senna tablet and a deep hot bath. It worked, and called to tell me the head was coming through when I was reading a bedtime story to other child but then she was a registered nurse.0

I was 2 1/2 weeks overdue with DD, but wasn't really too bothered. I did try the old wives tales, and found walking the best, but it was more of a march/ power walk tbh as I wanted to get things on their way. Sex not only acts as prostaglandin, but also orgasm releases oxytocin which is the hormone that stimulates labour. So it is the only one of the old wives tales that is based in truth.
I found the best thing and what stopped me going mad, was to just keep really busy. Make plans to see all your friends, evenings out, keep busy. If all your friends are at work in the day then write yourself job lists, go into town, batch cook, anything to keep you occupied. I also told myself (and I'm doing the same this time) that gestation is 42 weeks so I didn't get my hopes up for my due date. In France the official gestation is 41 weeks and ours is 40 so could be whenever baby is ready, try not to get too stressed about it as 'a watched pot never boils'.0 -
I heard that if you walk up and down the stairs sideways that helps open your cervix but dont quote me lol.0

Some very funny suggestions, alot of women flying the flag for sex, at least you'll be distracted and happy!
Seriously though years ago I suggested to my best friend's daughter to drink caster oil. She did this and a couple of hours later started getting stomach pains, and not the contraction variety. She was taken to hospital because she was in so much pain and was kept in over night. Don't do it! Looking back we laugh about it but at the time it was really frighteningDF as at 30/12/16

unless all 3 of yours were c sections there is a very good chance you did poo during delivery, the midwives are quick enough to dispose of it before anyone even notices and dont say anything as it happens all the time
you can say you didnt... but you wont ever really know
OP - i know your ratty and want it over ( i was the same) but if baby isnt ready to come out then theres a good reason for it,
with my 2nd, my dates were bang on and i had a c section at 39+6 and for the whole time we were in the maternity ward i was asked repeatedly if he was early... he wasnt even small at 8lb 9 1/2 oz but he had rattly breath and was showing other signs of prematurity,
a few of the midwives said if we had been able to wait for a natural start to delivery he probably would have been one of the 2 weeks over due babes to make sure he was baked properly (but he was breech and section was the only way to go)
good luck!0 -
I'm another beleiver of bubs will come when he/she is ready.
I was 3 weeks early with the first so didn't get to the stage of wanting him out yet lol
I wanted my youngest out from about 34 weeks only because I was in so much pain, but he held on until 39 weeks.0 -
I had a little bit of raspberry leaf tea , just the tiniest amount because it was foul tasting........
DD was born within 24 hours.
However it's only fair to add, DD was born at 41+6, so maybe the little bit of tea had nothing to do with it.:p
DH was a bit gutted as he'd been promised 'it' the night following the raspberry leatf tea, but I was in labour instead.:rotfl:
It'll come when it's cooked, as the old saying goes.;) Good Luck, hope it all goes well.:DMember of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

I hate to lower the tone... and not having had kids I am curious. If you are having contractions while having sex, is it more fun for the man?? I don't mean the fact that you're in pain (I'm not one to judge though)... rather because it is tightening? Or am I just misunderstanding how contractions work?Man plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0

two days after my due date with no5 i had reflexology and a sweep at 3pm, came home and talked OH into helping things along, started to get contractions but didnt think anything of it. Got downstairs and was very uncomfortable looked at OH and told him i 'thought' i was in labour, In laws came to pick the kids up at 5.45 midwife arrived at 6pm and baby arrived at 6.55!! it was the quickest labour ever and i couldnt belive she was in my arms.
Ladyhawk as far as i know contractions dont work that way....off to ask him lol! What's for you won't go past you0
