The "old wives" tales that I heard advocated o*** sex ....swallowed !
It's supposed to be better abosrbed ingested rather than through sex.cant your OH do that?
I think OH would need to know what he was looking for
My OH wouldn't have a clue! The MW was pushing my cervix to one side when I was in labour and OH was like 'Urgh, what's a cervix?' :rotfl:
OP - From the Monday I did the following
Monday night - hot curry, sex, 2 Evening Primrose Oil Caps (they are supposed to have similar properties to Prostagladins which is in sperm and the induction pessary).
Tuesday - sex, a long walk, very hot chilli, sex, 2 Evening Primrose Oil Caps
Wednesday - sex, a long walk, big ASDA shop for batch cooking plus pineapples, a very spicy mexican chilli chicken followed by an evening of batch cooking and 2 Evening Primrose Oil Caps and sex - went into labour @ 12.30am had Jack at 8.17am.
Had been taking 1 EPO capsule before that Monday from about 36 weeks - I had Jack 37 + 2.
So as you can see I did lots of different things so I don't know which one (if any) worked!
I never did get round to eating the Pineapple though - apparently you need to eat about 7 a day for it to be effective! Think that would just give you the trots! :rotfl:
Sending you some labour vibes - come on bubs it's time to come outA very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea

Didn't work for me, and it hurt quite a bit.
I had 3 failed sweeps. MW's who did them said it only effective if your cervix is ready and even then its not 100% certain to do the trick. I ended up being induced at hospital even though I tried everything mentioned here. They only come when they are ready and when I finally get round to the having the next baby I won't bother with old wives tales, not worth the stress and disappointment.2013 wins: Persil Bunny0 -
so curry, walks and sex it is then :-)
lets hope it does the trick. Am having lots of practice ones now, some of them reasonably uncomfortable, but am not holding out hope that this is it. Cervix is also painful, sort of spiky feelings? Am seeing an old friend on Sunday who happens to be an obstetrician, and she has offered to have a feel and see what's going on - but maybe stretching the bounds of friendship too far!

My other half did a quick sweep for me with bubs but i was in a slightly different positon where my contractions kept coming then stopping we hoped it would get things going properly and it did. It is really simple to do but your other half would need to be confident and not squeemish and of course wash his hands thoroughly and apply alcohol gel.
I do believe in sex sex and more sex :-):jFriends are like fabric you can never have enough:j0 -
You lot must be mad suggesting hot curries etc as will just give the OP the sh**s which would be highly embarrasing during labour.
I would stick to safer options such as sex and brisk walks.0 -

I read its actually getting the sh1ts that can help start things off. Something to do with the cramps *shrugs*
despite 3 mights of spicy food, I didnt get the sh1ts or poop during labour - thank god, wouldn't have lived that one down :rotfl:A very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea

I would rather wait for nature to take its course than risk the embarrasment of an unwanted evacuation during labour!!!!!!0 -
Four kids, all induced. Tried everything (including sweeps) that's already been mentioned and more- all to no avail.
I actually felt a little "robbed" at never having had the excitement of going into labour naturally, but they're all healthy so cest la vie.
Just chillax and it'll happen when it happens.Only dead fish go with the flow...0 -
sex, but not oral as the prostaglandins are denatured (broken down) in the stomach.
cramps from hot currys do not bring on labour, just make you feel wretched - in the olden days they used to dose you up with castor oil to achieve the same effect'We're not here for a long time, we're here for a good time0
