Once again this is making me smile.
Why do people consider mobile phone contracts different from other contracts?
Surely if you signed a contract for 12/18/24 months, as long as Vodafone let you upgrade then, there isn't a problem.
The moral of the story don't sign a contract thinking it will end 3 months early.
I am a Vodafone contract used BTW0 -
Hi all,
Upgrading fifty days before the end of your contract would still be classed as an early upgrade and early upgrades do not form part of your contract with Vodafone. Therefore, would not be grounds for canceling a contract with us.

Would being told that if you sign this contract with these terms and if you do so, we will let you upgrade 60 days early (a reason to sign with them) then that is surely mis-selling?
I heard that 3 have reduced their upgrade policy and when my brother upgraded the person told him that if he signs a 24 month contract he can upgrade 3 months early, if they then do not allow him to do so (a verbal contract?) then surely that is either mis-selling or a broken contract?
I know if I was to sign a contract after being told I can upgrade early if I do so, then they decide I can't I would be very annoyed.0 -

You can upgrade in whatever month you want. It just won't be a free upgrade.
Unless the contract states you can have a free upgrade 60 days before the end of your minimum period then you have not got a leg to stand on.0 -
I have same problems with my upgrade..waited until 12/02/2010. Now they saying upgrade can be done by end of March 10..

I signed an 18 months contact with vodafone as they offered me the chance to upgrade 60 days before the end of the contract, i didnt ask for it, they offered it, we then formed a contract and now they are choosing to change it.
So in fact the moral of the story is dont expect big business to have any ethics or keep to what it agreed during contract negotiations or indeed abide by its own T&Cs.TESCO EVERY LITTLE change to the t&cs HELPS0 -

Is it that or is the moral is get it in writing and don't believes salesmans hype. Not believing anything a salesman tells you should be second nature anyway.
What you may or may not have agreed was not what the contract said that you got. Bad on Vodafones side maybe but they have millions of customers and use a standard contract, you should have ensured what you agreed was written down with it. Without that you have little chance of it being followed.
As I said before Ethics works both ways, trying to get out of a contract for a pretty much minor change of a discressionary period could be considered just as unethical.0 -

Yep, Verbal contracts carry the same legal weight as paper ones.
Only problem is proving it in 21 months time when the salesperson will only have what was on file and it's probably not logged in there.0 -

You seem to be failing to grasp the simple fact here which is they have change the early upgrades from 60 to 50 days, this isnt something people have imagined. This isnt a 'bribe' for certain customers, this was applied across the board to all new accounts and upgrades.
Dial 151 from your vodafone handset, select option 1 then option 4 and listen to the message..... "You can upgrade your phone from upto 60 days before the end of your contract"TESCO EVERY LITTLE change to the t&cs HELPS0 -

But you are still failing to grasp the fact that upgrading early has never formed part of your contract. You were told this before the Vodafone rep mentioned it.0
