A couple of weeks ago a farmer near here had to shoot a dog that virtually tore the back leg of a sheep off - it's owners had literally stood there watching as it ran about 'having fun' - they said as much when the farmer first confronted them...:(
You mention dogs being an annoyance to other people but then you give a very extreme example. I don't think anyone would describe that occurence as a mere annoyance. So what do you mean by "annoyance"?0 -
This drives me mad as gives all dog owners a bad name. If I am out and see someone leaving their doggies poop on the three occasions I have handed them a poop bag and said oh it looks like you have forgotten your bags here have one of mine...
One lady with a posh little pooch was aghast and said it was in the grass a little woodland place so she had no intention of picking it up. i did point out that there were lots of children who live near by and use that area as a place to explore and collect nature things like acorns etc etc didnt go down well to say the least. the other two were fine.0 -

I know it's an extreme example, but I'll list the everyday 'annoyances' if it doesn't seem over-pedantic, starting with the obvious ones!
Poop everywhere - not every owner does 'pick up' - very few do.
Dogs hassling you when you're out - no I don't think he's 'cute' when he's running up slobbering to 'greet' me.
Owners thinking it's OK to let their pets p1ss everywhere.
Barking continuously until you feel your head's about to explode.
Owners thinking it's OK to take dogs into shops/pubs/buses and letting them wander around willy-nilly.

Yes much the same can be said about cat owners. Im fed up of cleaning their muck up in my garden. I had to get rid of my fish pond after the damn things used to reach in to claw the fish."The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts."

Rant over.
I'll list a few of my everyday annoyances then, if that's ok:
* People who generalise.
* People who use stupid examples to try to illustrate a point.
* People who are completely intolerant of other people and can't make allowances for the fact that not everyone wants to live their lives the same way they do.
* People who think that just because they don't like animals (or a particular type of animal) nobody should be allowed to have one.
* People who are unable to recognise that they might be just as annoying to other people as other people/dogs are to them.
* And finally, completely off topic, people who put apostrophes in the wrong place.

Just a thought Starrystarry - do you think the dog owning population should start a campaign to ban apostrophes because there are some people (myself included probably) who don't know how to use them?
that would even things up a bit lolIf you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you always got!0 -

I think we've enough to do defending our dogs by the sounds of things!0 -
i have no control over where my dog decides to take a p1ss once he has started it is too late, as most people at same stage have to walk their dogs on the pavement it is difficult to try and stop your dog from doing it on your wall or fence. So I would like to know how i train my dog to perhaps p1ss down the drain, now that would need some seriously training.
Maybe the local cats should stop urinating up my front door which happens regularly.
Any cat venturing into my garden will have my (stinking, sh1tting, barking, biting) dog after it !!!

Whilst out running a dog ran out of a house at full speed and barking angrily which I recognised to be the bark of a pit bull!
I'd already started thinking of how to dealt with it once it had sunk its teeth into my leg. I felt it come into contact with my trainer (not bitten) but it didn't chase me as I ran very quickly down the street. I'm not sure if it was a pit bull, it might have been a bull terrier as it was too dark to see. I guess they have the same bark...
Oh please, you recognised the bark of a pit Bull. but you are not sure if it
was as it was too dark too see. Dogs dont have accents you know. Their bark will give you only an estimation of size, and if you anything about dogs their intent.
I think you let your imagination run away with you. It didnt even bite you.
I had a beautiful Pit Bull !!!!! that was a family pet, she had to be spayed
microchipped and tattoed to comply with the Law. She got a horrible infection and eventaully had to be put down as I could no longer afford the vets fees. Sad end for such a nice loving dog.Slimming World at target0 -

I've trained my Alsation to specifically chase the dirty vermin if they venture on my garden - bloody owners should keep their cats on leads and clean up after them rather than just let em out :mad:0
