Rant: Inconsiderate dog owners !

  • That's a bit harsh Norma, surely there's no need to loathe all dogs and all dog owners just because some are irresponsible. Do you not have any family or friends who own dogs? Do you loathe them as well?

    :o I know, I know.....I really can't stand dogs though.
Only yesterday someone let their dog deposit a pile right outside my front door (house fronts onto a little lane) and I caught them 'at it' and walking away. You can imagine why I'm so angry.
Oh and it's not OK to let your dog lift its leg on my tubs of plants either.
Sorry, but many of the owners I've met just can't understand why non-dog people get so cross at their selfishness.

Cats are so much easier to control *Phew*

But you don't control cats - they're let out, and go and poop anywhere of their choosing! You don't see cat owners chasing after them with the poop-a-scoop :)
And cats do make an attempt at hiding it... shame when digging your garden you end up uncovering it again :(

Then again, when was the last time you saw a cat doing its business in the middle of the pavement or jumping up at you ...??

  • If cats did do it in the middle of the pavement, at least you would see it and it wouldnt sneak up on you when innocently digging or planting in the front garden...

And cats really hate me.... must be the scent of my dogs! I've been scratched to bits by most of my friends cats :(

Plus, sorry to harp on about training - but properly trained dogs should have no reason to randomly jump at people, and as a dog owner I'm still miffed if dogs jump at me!

Have you never met a nice, considerate dog owner?

Oh yes, of course, it's such a shame that the bad seem to outnumber the good - one can only go by experience.

Or perhaps you only remember the bad, so they appear to outnumber the good.
  • As a dog owner I totally agree it is disgusting and unforgiveable not to clean up after you pet. I ALWAYS pick up after my dog - even when we walk on the footpaths that cross local farm fields. I get very cross with people that don't scoop as they give responsible dog owners a bad name. I am so paranoid about cleaning up after them I have even picked up another dog's poo on a couple of occasions when I was not sure what my dog had just produced and what was already in grass:eek: So please don't think that all dog owners don't give a poop.

As for cats....... anyone near my cottage this morning would have heard what I have to say on this subject. My grandchildren are visiting for half-term so I was was just checking that everything is the garden is safe for them to play. But what did I find.... some visiting cat has had a poo-fest in the wood bark surrounding my veg beds (I had to net the beds for just this very reason). My dogs do not poo in other people's gardens so why should I have to put up cat poo in mine?

If I find a cat in the garden I am tempted to take it to the vet to see if it is micro-chipped. That way I will be able to return both cat and bag of cat poo to the rightful owner :rotfl:

The thing is though that few dog owners think that their pet can be an annoyance to other people at all.
A couple of weeks ago a farmer near here had to shoot a dog that virtually tore the back leg of a sheep off - it's owners had literally stood there watching as it ran about 'having fun' - they said as much when the farmer first confronted them...:(

  • we have a dog and we always pick up he doesnt smell he goes to the groomers regularly, does not bark - only when someone knocks on the door - and has never bitten anyone i consider myself to be a model dog owner, however going on to cats, right outside my kitchen window we have bark - and two cats next door who decide to deposit their poop in it, as a previous poster said you start to tidy the garden, walk over the bark and get a handfull or footfull of the stuff all stinky and runny. gets worse in summer with the heat and i have to open my kitchen window for the full stench to drift in, if i see any cat in my garden front or back pooping or not out rushes the dog to chase them away i laugh i find it funny hopefully they might get the message - god knows what the neighbour feeds them on as it is all runny and yellow !!!!
